shame that two of the guests missed their ferry and the event! On to Denver and tea in Boulder, Colorado where attendance was reduced as it was Memorial Day weekend. An apocalyptic hailstorm was good preparation for Dallas (with visitors from Houston on a night of record rain there) before reverting to the more normal Presidential circuit joining the Master for final events in Toronto and New York. So almost sixty years since first reading those reports, I now wonder whether there will be a young Alleynian who reads this and in sixty years’ time will be President of the Alleyn Club with a similar theme and motivation to visit OAs and Dulwich Colleges around the world. I do hope so, for we are increasingly spread worldwide and all have our school heritage in common. For anyone who has read this far there may be one lingering question. The answer is ‘Yes!’ The tradition of singing the school song was maintained almost everywhere – even in public venues where phlegmatic locals seem to take it as quite normal for grown men to rise and sing in Latin concluding, as I do this article, with ‘Detur Soli Deo Gloria.’
