this class have been called to the Lord’s work in other lands, and now that the war is over, doors are again open and many young missionaries are making preparation to leave for foreign fields to make Christ known. Dorothy (Gantenbein) Powell, and her husband, Arthur, have set their faces toward Alaska. Elsie Knox, an employee in the Biola business offices for several years, is now in the east in connection with appointment to service in China. Nor man and Florence Allensworth, who have been accepted for foreign service by the South China Boat Mission, are in deputatiopal work. The Church of the Open Door has assumed their sup port. Curt and Olga (Schultz) Claassen sailed for India last November; their address is Champa, P. C., India. Elmer and Gloria (Johnson) Fricke, 943 W. 11th PL, Los Angeles 15, hope soon to be on their way to India. Nine of the members of this class of ’42 have been called to service in Africa: Geraldine Hamlett, Marian Settles, Geneva Ko sher, Paul and Carolyn (McCormick) London (already on the field); Glenn and Dorothy (McNabney) Lawrence (hoping to sail in September); Paul and Ruth (Charlton) Uhlinger are to go out under the Conservative Baptist Board. Paul (born in Africa of mis sionary parents) will have charge of a Bible school for the training of na tive pastors and evangelists in the new mission field of the Lake Kivu region of Belgian Congo. Florence Eisele, Codallos 46, Patz- cuaro, Mich., Mex., is serving with the Latin American Prayer Fellowship. Ben and Adelle (Ottoson) Elson. and their two children are on the field and may be addressed c/o F. J. Ascasena, via Mex. de Aviacion, S. A., Minatitlan, Ver., Mex. Milton and Clara (Neufeld) Warkentin, San Mateo del Mar, Por Tehuantepec, Oaxa, Mex., are working on a Spanish-Huave dictionary, great ly needed in their translation work. Dorothy Wright, Huehuetla, Hidalgo, Mex., asks our prayer for medical help in their district. Beulah Osborn, Apt. 38, Santa Marta, Colombia, S. A., flew from New Orleans last October with Leonard ’44 and Helen (Regier ’43) Hanes, who may also be reached at the above address.

Matilda Alexander and Rosalee Cole man, formerly employed in the Biola business offices, are very happy in their labors in the rural districts under the direction of the Christian Business and Professional Women’s Council, 327 Corbett Bldg., Portland, Oregon. Roy and Rachel Butler, with their new baby, live in Limon, Colo., where Roy is pastor of the First Bap tist Church. Peter and Phyllis Gun ther, 115 N. Main St., Wheaton, 111., are attending Wheaton College, where Phyllis continues her study of music, and Peter is working for his M.A.Th. Riedar Kalland, 1150 4th Ave., Los An geles, is happy to introduce his wife, Betty, to the Biola family. He has had a profitable year in evangelistic work among children, and is now enrolled as a student at the California Baptist Theological Seminary. Lubin and Ma tilda (Mueller) Jantzen, 126 W. 58th St., Los Angeles, have recently re turned to California; Lubin will re ceive his B.A. this fall. Herbert and Ruth (Downs) Bess reside at 310 Park Ave., Bellflower, Calif., where Herbert is pastor of the First Brethren Church and a student at Long Beach City Col lege. Ben and Hulda (Peters) Doerksen, R. 2, Box 249, Reedley, Calif., are at tending Escalon Mission Covenant Church, where Hulda has charge of the Junior Church. Arvid Carlson ’39, recently held revival services in their church. Charles and Iris Girton of Houck, Ariz., are working at Klagetoh, and, despite opposition, are winning souls for Christ. At present they are substituting at the main mission sta tion for Iva Lauber ’27, who has been ill for some months. Pray for the re covery of this valued worker. Bernice Herr, Box 122, Aberdeen, S. Dak., is now serving as State Director of Child Evangelism in N. Dakota while await ing her call to Africa. Sarah Ingram, 2072 40th Ave., Oakland, is rejoicing greatly over her recovery from a long illness. She has returned to her work at the Bible Book Store in Oakland. Eva Krenzler, 855 Belmont St., Sa
lem, Ore., is serving as church mis sionary for the Bethel Baptist Church. Catherine Ross, Oraibi, Ariz., is teach ing a daily Bible hour in the mission day school and thus aiding the spir itual growth of the Navajo converts. Virginia Sackett, R. 1, Box 64, Shatter, Calif., is teaching eleven released-time Bible classes, and several Bible clubs. God is giving the increase. Catherine Scates, Box 1125, Lancaster, Calif., is teaching intermediate boys and girls in Sunday school and directing the youth and senior choirs. Mark and Inez (Miller) Shannon, 3926 Jewell St., San Diego 9, find that life in a govern ment project is an open door to teach the Word to many children who never go to Sunday school. Inez gathers the little children into her home for classes while Mark is teaching a large group of young men. Edward Wiebe, Porum, Okla., writes that all of his time is occupied with the daily teach ing of a class of twenty-seven grade school pupils. Mae Wong, 144 Wet- more St., San Francisco 8, writes that she is busy teaching classes and work ing among the Chinese women and girls in her home district. Dennis and Marie (Houseman) Halliday have been serving under the auspices of the Kentucky Mountain Mission since late in 1944. Five of this class have prepared themselves for medical work as the Lord leads. Graduates from nurses’ training schools are: Peggy Hall, Na val Hospital, St. Albans, Long Island; Carolyn (Hummel) Spaugh, 1610 Tenth St., Lubbock, Tex., is working in a Catholic hospital while her husband, Clifton Earl Spaugh, is studying archi tectural engineering in Texas Techno logical school.. Mathilda Wall, 1401 E. 31st St., Oakland, Calif., is Charge Nurse in the communicable disease ward of a local hospital. Janice Bailey and Anne Jantzen have nearly com pleted their training at San Joaquin General Hospital, French Camp, Sac ramento. A large number of the graduates of
