First Week Y outh and T ruth

when he chose to serve God in a heathen king’s court. The little maid who told Naaman’s wife about the prophet in Israel who could heal the leprosy was but a young girl, but she knew God and trusted Him. Paul as a young man remembered God, for we read, “My manner of life from my youth, which was at the first among mine own nation at Jerusalem, know all the Jews; Which knew me from the beginning, if they would testify, that after the most straitest sect of our re ligion I lived a Pharisee” (Acls 26:4,5). Paul needed more than the training of youth, but many of the things he learned then were helpful after he became a Christian. To remember God in one’s youth does not mean merely to acknowledge Him as Creator. It means to accept His Son as a personal Saviour, and to be forgiven and freed from sin. Second Week P ersecutor and P reacher

all three to the board, with the two which are colored to the left and right of the uncolored one. Thumbtacks should be placed with stems.along the side and not through the paper, per mitting them to be opened when desired.) Lesson: You will have difficulty in guessing what these “P’s” stand for, so I will tell you. The middle one is to remind us of Saul, who afterwards became PAUL. The biack “P” to the left reminds us of the PERSECUTOR. We will open -it and see what We find in it. There is a red cross. Paul, who was then Saul, was persecuting Christ, while he was persecuting Christians. We read, “And he fell to the earth, and heard a voice saying unto him, Saul, Saul, why persecuted thou me?” (Acts 9:4). We are thankful that Saul did not remain, a persecutor of Christians and Christ. There is another “P” to the right at which we are to look. We will let it. remind us of the word “ PREACHERS.” When we open it, we see that there is -a red cross in the center of it, reminding us that Paul preached a person, and that person was Christ. “And straightway he preached Christ in the synagogues; that he is the Son of God” (Acts 9:20). “But they had heard only. That he which persecuted us in times past now preacheth the faith which once he destroyed” (Gal. 1:23). Third Week C hanging C ommanders

Objects: A straight stick, a crooked stick burned at both ends, and a glass of ashes! . Lesson: What is the matter with this stick? (Hold up the burned one.) Yes, I hear you say, “It is burned at both ends.” Can you guess what is in this glass? "“ It looks like ashes.” True, these are ashes. Sin does to boys and girls what fire does to wood. It destroys usefulness. Do you see any thing wrong with this clean, straight stick? No, and you could easily make something useful out of it, if you had the proper tools. But you would find it. very difficult to make anything useful out of this burned and crooked stick. People are like sticks. Some people become Christians early and give their lives to the Lord to be used by Him. Others wait until sin has so marred their lives that there is nothing left to give God but the ashes of a wasted life. This is the reason why God tells us in Ecclesiastes 12:1: “Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth.” God wants boys and girls to accept Christ while they are young, and then He can take their whole lives and really use them. Samuef was only a small boy when he was brought to the house of God, and he became one of the greatest prophets. Daniel was still a youth

Objects: Three capital “P’s.” (Make them by folding three pieces of paper 8^x11 inches. The size will now be 414x11 inches. With the fold to your left, cut up 7 inches from the bottom, % inch away from the fold. At this point, turn to the right and complete the curved portion of the "P,” ending at the top of the paper. Remove two, and on the portion the shape of a cross color red. Color the front of one of these crosses black, and the front of the other gold. Thumbtack
