THE

Volunteering Time for others

EVERY LITTLE HELPS Arjun from 6J volunteered at West Bromwich’s Tesco to help raise food for the Trussell Trust Food Bank. Arjun’s job is normally dating the tinned food but as there were not enough tins to date, he was handing out leaflets under my (Mom’s) supervision. Once he handed out a couple of leaflets, he gained his confidence and started to greet the shoppers with: "Hello would you like a leaflet?" as they took one he ended with "have a nice day!" It shocked me at how confident he was. Even the security guard at Tesco's commented to me on how good Arjun was! Arjun worked from just before 11am up until 3pm. He started with handing out leaflets then finished up with dating the tinned food. On this day he gained some new skills and really enjoyed working with the community. Thanks to Arjun’s Mum for the story [Ed - What a great way to give up some time to help others] WINNERS Abbey was the proud winner of the West Midlands Community Sports Award for up- skilling staff in the effective teaching of PE. This is the third award that we have received for our innovative PE work and well done us!
