From the mentor's desk... Dear SLND Family, I hope this message finds you in high spirits and with a sense of pride in your hearts! It is with immense joy and gratitude that I extend my warmest congratulations to each one of you for your unwavering dedication and hard work that have led to our hotel achieving remarkable revenue during this period. Your commitment to excellence and your continuous efforts in creating memorable Shangri-La moments for our guests have not gone unnoticed. You have exemplified the true spirit of hospitality, leaving a lasting impression on all who walk through our doors. Shangri-La has also recently launched its new "Find Your Shangri-La" global campaign, created to help guests find their personal moments of joy at the luxury hotel chain renowned for its delivery of Asian hospitality. The initial part of the campaign is centred around a whimsical brand film that celebrates Shangri-La's commitment to providing guests with unforgettable experiences, showcased through unexpected moments of personalized and authentic service. As we stand at the threshold of peak season, I am confident that together we will conquer new heights of success. We are a family, and it is through our collective efforts that we will continue to set new standards of hospitality and will create moments of joy. In conclusion, let us carry the torch of excellence and passion for our work as we embark on this exciting journey. From the mentor's desk... Dear Colleagues, A big hello to all of you! It gives me immense pride and joy to launch this second edition of our Newsletter Adhyavat . This is the name we have given to our Newsletter and it means remaining Up to Date . We are gaining strength with every passing month and our results are the true testimony of our efforts in the right direction. Guests have been increasingly patronizing us and your dedication and commitment to wow them has helped guests find their Moments Of Joy with our brand that is the true custodian of our rich heritage of delivering Asian Hospitality. I am personally elated to be a part of this glorious journey and happy to note your individual achievements that were announced in terms of your promotions that were announced in the hotel. Congratulations to all of you. I am also happy to see you take charge of your career and become part of our second edition of Junior Leaders Program that has been kickstarted. This affirms our organization’s stand of Own Our Success and makes us drivers of our own growth. We are committed to provide these learning and growth opportunities to all of you. This quarter also reflects our continued focus on remaining true to our commitment i.e. Make this Hotel the Best Learning Ground for all of you, where you enjoy each and every day with activities that bring Joy in your lives. We have yet again tried to capture these moments in a fun way and hope that you enjoy going through these pages as much as we enjoyed creating them. Third quarter has already started, and I am sure that all of you will continue to enjoy yourselves and deliver heartfelt hospitality in the lives of all the guests who come to our hotel. Leadership Workshop
At SLND, learning is always an enjoyable experience. Gaurav Bhatkar , (Regional Learning & Development Lead for MEIA ), organized a fantastic two-day Leadership Team Building Workshop on April 3rd and 4th, 2023 . The workshop included engaging activities such as strength finder exercises, trust-building exercises, team cooking sessions, early morning Yoga, building Lego towers, and team dancing. These activities not only enhanced the team's connections but also made the learning process super enjoyable for everyone involved.
ICC Session It is crucial to maintain safe and respectful environment in an organization to foster a respectful culture and culture of equality. An awareness session was conducted on 8th May' 2023 by our Internal Complaints Committee, to educate the team members of SLND about fostering a safe & positive work environment for the female colleagues at the workplace.
All were imparted the Fire & Life Safety Learning Session on 9th May' 2023, in which they were introduced to the importance of fire safety and the purpose of the session also, the colleagues
highlighted the potential risks and consequences associated with the fire incidents & explained all the emergency and evacuation procedures to them. Fire & Life Safety Learning Session
Junior Leaders Programme Kick off
The JLP participants experienced a sense of euphoria when they had the opportunity to briefly engage with Kapil Aggarwal (Co-Head, MEIA), who also presented them with their welcome letters on May 22, 2023 . This interaction left them feeling inspired and delighted, igniting their eagerness to actively participate in the JLP course.
JLP Introductory Session
The Junior Leaders Programme (JLP) held at SLND on May 26, 2023 was a momentous occasion filled with great enthusiasm and excitement. The programme has been designed to be a transformative educational journey for the participating young individuals, providing them with a unique opportunity to develop essential skills and qualities necessary for future leadership roles. Through this three-month duration programme, the participants will engage in various activities. These activities are designed not only to promote camaraderie among the participants but also to instill in them the spirit of collaboration and the ability to work effectively as a team with confidence, empathy, and a strong sense of responsibility towards their communities.
Champions Wine
SLND has launched the Shangri-La Wine Scholar Program , designed to provide wine training to our in-house wine enthusiasts. The programme selects individuals with exceptional knowledge of wines from various outlets to be part of this training initiative. The primary goal of the Shangri-La Wine Scholar is to foster a strong wine culture throughout all our food and beverage venues. The programme also aims to establish a team of wine influencers within the hotel and to boost the beverage knowledge of all our colleagues, motivating them to excel in this area. Our Champs were felicitated with a certificate of appreciation by Nicholas Smith (Vice President- F&B- MEIA Region) .
Mental Well Being Session
"Mental health is a continuum, and people may fall anywhere on the spectrum." What mental health needs is more sunlight, more candor, and more unashamed conversations.
We organized a session on 30th May' 2023 on Mental Well Being which was conducted by Dr. Payashvani Raghuvanshi, (BHMS, Nehru Medical College and Hospital, Noida, UP) in which colleagues of SLND have participated in great numbers with full zeal. It was an interactive session with lots of fun filled mental and physical activities. This ensured the mindful practices, reduced stress and overall well-being of an individual.
Corporate Social Responsibility
SLND introduced its new family members to Noida Deaf Society NDS , our Embrace partner, for a Sign Language Workshop on April 18, 2023 . This collaborative initiative aimed to foster inclusive communication and understanding of sign language.
The session enabled participants to grasp fundamental sign language gestures, enhancing their ability to interact with hearing-impaired individuals. Through this enriching experience, we hope to promote a more inclusive and empathetic workplace environment for all team members.

On June 06, 2023 , SLND organized another session at Noida Deaf Society NDS , where our colleagues demonstrated the sign language they had learnt during the session. This experience not only deepened their comprehension of the language but also significantly boosted their confidence. By actively showcasing their new skills, the colleagues gained practical experience and honed their communication abilities.

Witnessing successful demonstrations fostered a positive and supportive learning environment, their peers' encouraging continued practice and growth. Overall, the session reinforced SLND's commitment to inclusive communication and empowered the colleagues to engage more effectively with deaf colleagues and customers, fostering a culture of understanding and inclusion within the organization.
Earth Day serves the opportunity to encourage individuals, communities, and organizations to take action to protect the environment. As "WE DO NOT INHERIT THE EARTH FROM OUR ANCESTORS, WE BORROW IT FROM OUR CHILDREN". SLND took initiative to take the childern of Bal Sahyog to visit RB Organic Farms to show them and to make them understand the process of the production of oraganic produce to celebrate the Mother Earth Day on 22nd April' 2023 .
The young members of Bal Sahyog , together with the SLND team, had an enjoyable and educational experience learning about the production of Kadak Nath Chicken and Eggs . They also had a great time harvesting vegetables and planting Banyan Trees to nurture the nature & to commemorate Mother Earth Day . The day culminated in a delightful lunch prepared amidst the beauty of nature which was savored by children in the lap of mother earth.

We acknowledge that the greatest threat to our planet is the misconception that others will take responsibility for its preservation. Hence, on the occasion of World Ocean Day on June 8th, 2023 , we have taken the initiative to clean our surroundings and protect our society from environmental degradation by fostering a clean and green environment at Hauz Khas Lake . As we undertake these efforts, we are mindful of the profound impact even our smallest actions can have, for as the saying goes, " What we are doing is just a drop in the ocean. But the ocean would be less because of that missing drop!"

Fire Service Week
At SLND we understand that fire safety is a collective responsibility. By following fire safety practices, being proactive in preventing fire hazards, and knowing how to respond in case of a fire, we can significantly reduce the risks and keep ourselves and others safe from the destructive impact of fires. To make our team members understand the importance of fire safety we celebrated ' Fire Service Week' in which they were trained to deal with adverse situations faced during a fire emergency which was followed by two competitions viz a viz Fire Hose Drill competition held on April 17, 2023 and Fire Quiz held on April 18, 2023 . Both of the competitive games were played in teams which also developed the necessary skillset in the participants to deal with such adverse situations while standing together.

Fire Service Week At SLND, recognizing the significance of assessment in gauging progress and identifying areas for
improvement, the team conducted a Quiz Round following the ' Fire Contingency Session '. The purpose of this assessment was to evaluate the team members comprehension of the concepts covered in the learning module. Through the quiz, participants were able to demonstrate their understanding of crucial fire safety and contingency planning principles. This interactive approach allowed for immediate feedback and insights into the team's strengths and weaknesses.
DUM DUM, the Yellow House of SLND, put together a captivating lineup of activities on April 19th and 20th, 2023 . This included a range of enjoyable games like Gully Cricket, Marathon Relay, Badminton, and Kho Kho .
The players were hitting smashing sixes, avoiding getting out, skillfully touching the boundaries and what not! The game of Gully Cricket, brought back fond memories of our carefree childhood days, filled with joy and excitement. The experience was incredibly fun, as we relished the thrill of playing in a casual setting and recreating the nostalgia of our youth.

During the Marathon Relay event organized by DUM, the Yellow House of SLND, participants engaged in an exhilarating test of endurance and teamwork. The event involved teams of runners who took turns to run specific segments of the marathon distance, passing the baton to their teammates at designated points. Each runner gave their all in their respective segments, the atmosphere was charged with energy and determination. The sense of accomplishment was palpable as each team member successfully completed their leg of the relay, motivating and inspiring the next runner to keep going.

The sound of shuttlecocks being hit back and forth echoed through the venue as players displayed their agility, precision, and strategic thinking on the court. The matches were intense and highly engaging, with participants fully immersed in the game of Badminton organised by Dum house.

Kho Kho, a popular traditional Indian sport, brought an air of excitement and fervor to the event organized by DUM, the Yellow House of SLND. The game involves two teams, with one team designated as the 'chasers' and the other as the 'defenders.' The chasers must tag the defenders as quickly as possible, relying on their speed, agility, and strategic maneuvers to outwit their opponents. As the Kho Kho matches unfolded, spectators cheered passionately, creating an electric atmosphere that energized the players. The encouragement from the crowd motivated the teams to exhibit their utmost dedication and skill, making the matches intensely competitive and captivating for all. Kho Kho
World Hand Hygiene Day
Proper hand hygiene is a simple yet effective measure to prevent the spread of infections. By promoting and practicing good hand hygiene habits, we can contribute to healthier communities and reduce the risk of life threatening and air borne diseases. SLND Family celebrated the World Hand Hygiene Day on 5th May' 2023 , spreading the message of " Clean Hands, Happy Hands " by showcasing an interesting video and making everyone remember the mantra of " Lather-Rinse-Repeat".
Mother's Day "You can be a sister, a wife, a daughter or a friend, but it takes countless days of
sleepless nights, pain, passion, perseverance, sacrifices, unconditional love & care to be a MOM." We celebrated Mother's Day on 14th May' 2023 to
appreciate the efforts of all the mothers and to express the gratitude towards them.
On the 15th and 16th of May 2023 , SULTAN the Red House of SLND, organized an exciting array of events. These activities encompassed amusing games such as Dog & the Bone, Slow Cycling, Three Legged Race, Thrilling Base Camp Adventure, Wheel Barrow Race, and Tug of War .
The event on May 15, 2023 , featured the Dog & the Bone, Slow Cycling, and Three Legged Race activities. The atmosphere was brimming with enthusiasm as participants learnt the importance of balance and coordination. These engaging games provided an enjoyable experience for everyone involved, leaving them with lasting memories of the fun-filled day focused on improving their skills in a lighthearted manner.
On May 16, 2023 , the event showcased the Thrilling Base Camp Adventure, Wheelbarrow Race, and Tug of War, captivating the participants with excitement and energy. These activities put their endurance to the test, pushing them to the limits while fostering a spirit of camaraderie and healthy competition. The atmosphere buzzed with enthusiasm as everyone engaged in the thrilling challenges, making it a memorable day of adventure and team bonding.
He’s charismatic, He’s adorable. He’s the one and only - our Teeny Tiny Le Petit Chef! For the first time ever in the capital city, SLND is hosting Le Petit Chef (LPC), the tiniest chef globally, standing at just 6 cm tall. Since June 3, 2023, LPC in collaboration with SLND, has been offering an immersive dining experience to guests. Patrons can embark on a gastronomic adventure, indulging in a unique one and a half-hour dining experience that combines the finest of 3D mapping and innovative cuisine, providing delightful surprises throughout the meal exclusively at SLND.
"A father's love is the fuel that enables a normal human being to do the impossible!" On 18th June 2023 , the SLND Family celebrated Father's Day by organizing a captivating Photo Contest . The event aimed to express gratitude for the unparalleled contributions of fathers in our lives. Participants were encouraged to showcase heartwarming moments captured with their dads, cherishing the love and dedication they bring to the family.
Chef Lai Kuan Geo SLND prides itself on delivering unparalleled services and
delectable cuisine while constantly striving to captivate its guests with innovative and exciting experiences. The guests at our Tamra restaurant had the pleasure of enjoying a delightful meal prepared by the renowned Nyonya Cuisine Expert and Asian Food Guru, Chef Lai Kuan Geo . They relished the delicious tastes of dishes like XO Tiger Prawn Glass Noodles Pot and Sesame Spring Chicken, among others, in the month of April.
Global Town Hall SLND family attended the Global Town Hall event on May 11, 2023 during their Lunch break in the staff restaurant. Video Conferencing allowed everyone to participate and stay connected, even during their break time, fostering a sense of unity within the SLND family.
