Patient Overcomes Severe TTP Complications at Burjeel Hospital, Sharjah
S hadi Trabi, diagnosed with Thrombotic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (TTP) since 2016, was admitted to Burjeel Specialty Hospital, Sharjah, with life- threatening neurological complications, including a seizure disorder. During his long hospitalization, the patient experienced a series of severe complications, including seizures, septic shock, hypertensive crises, respiratory failure, severe anemia, dysphagia, and muscle wasting. He
was put under the care of Dr. Abdel Rahman Labban, Specialist Medical Oncology & Hematology. Throughout his treatment, Shadi underwent a total of 40 plasmapheresis sessions, received 842 units of fresh frozen plasma, 12 units of packed red blood cells, along with 4 doses of Rituximab. Despite these challenges, the patient showed significant improvement and was ultimately discharged in good condition.
