Environmental Committee : Met with the Govern- ment & RegulatoryAffairs Committee to discuss poten- tial extended producer responsibility (EPR) state legis- lation and its possible implications for members.Broke into three sub-committees to discuss the next steps for three important focus areas: One each to plan greater participation in liner recycling and landfill avoidance for matrix waste, and one to increase engagement in sustainability through greater participation in environ- mental awards and recognition programs. All Printing Resources (APR), Glendale Heights, Illi- nois,will hold a one-day Regional Workshop on Flexo Troubleshooting February 25th at its Technology Cen- ter and headquarters.The workshop will outline best flexo practices and solutions to improve pressroom efficiencies and is the first in a series of regional flexo troubleshooting workshops to be additionally held in Greenville, South Carolina;Vancouver,Washington; and San Leandro, California in the coming months. Work- shops will also be held in Fayetteville, Arkansas, and Houston, Texsas, in the fall with locations to be an- nounced at a later date. APR’s RegionalWorkshops for FlexoTroubleshooting are created for personnel who have a base understand- ing of the fundamentals of the flexo print process and want to gain advanced knowledge of methodologies to optimize and troubleshoot their companies’ flexo applications.The workshop will include presentations on the tools essential for process control in prepress, platemaking, the ink room and the pressroom.Attend- ees will discover methods for determining the root causes of common challenges encountered in flexog- raphic printing and how to solve these challenges.
