There’s never been a better time for veterans to connect with support in Telford and Wrekin. The Christopher Turley Armed Forces Hub in Dawley has become the first VALOUR-recognised centre for veterans in the West Midlands, a major milestone that reflects the Council’s commitment to supporting veterans, serving personnel and their families. Backed by more than £670,000 of Government funding, the recognition is helping the Hub expand the practical support it offers across skills and wellbeing and welfare services. The Hub, delivered in partnership between Telford & Wrekin Council, Great Dawley Town Council and Telford Mind, has quickly become a welcoming place where veterans can access advice, meet others with shared experiences and find the support they need. As part of its expansion, the Hub is now open four days a week, making it even easier for people to drop in and get help. The Hub’s growing reputation was highlighted earlier this year when it welcomed His Royal Highness The Duke of Gloucester, who met veterans, volunteers and partner organisations to learn more about the positive impact the Hub is having across the Borough. “The VALOUR accreditation is a fantastic achievement and reflects our ongoing commitment to supporting serving personnel, veterans and their
families. Through the Christopher Turley Armed Forces Hub and our work with partners, we continue to provide valuable support and bring the community together throughout the year.” Councillor Paul Davis Telford & Wrekin Council Cabinet Member for Stronger Communities, Local Pride and Veterans.
