President Jack Wyrtzen
Dear Graduates of the Class of ”82: This year is finished. What a time it was . . . learning. . . maturing . . . adapting. You will never be the same, I hope. Now there is “one verse more.” As the venerable “Bede” was translating the Gospel of John, age crept upon him. He drew near the end of his labor, but his strength failed him. His disciples cried, “Master, Master, there is one chapter more!” The master wrote on until his strength was gone. His disciples cried, “There is one verse more!”He summoned his failing strength and translated the one remaining verse. The master said, “It is finished.”He lay where he could fix his eyes upon the place where he used to pray, and there breathed out his spirit to the Savior whom he had glorified. You have applied yourselves diligently. Now you must continue to show person al loyalty to the crucified, risen, reigning Christ in the midst of a wicked, per verse, and adulterous generation. You will not have to pry open doors. Just ask the Lord to make you useable and you will have more to do than you have time for. Joshua 1:8. You will not have to seek greatness. Jeremiah 45:5, or despise the day of small things. Zechariah 4:10. Your one ambition is to be well-pleasing to the Lord. II Corinthians 5:9. Be alert to the fatalism that comes from extreme Calvinism and the humanism that comes from extreme Armenianism. Be on the lookout for the ecumenical movement which gives unity priority over the Word of God, the charismatic movement which gives experience priority over the Word of God, and the new- evangelicalism which gives fellowship priority over the Word of God. You are part of the Word of Life “family.” I hope you will ever look at Word of Life as one of your important homes here on earth. Keep at it.

Dear Graduate, It hardly seems possible that a whole year has gone by .. . yesterday you arrived and already you are leaving us. This reminds us that “Only one life will soon be past, only whatfs done for Christ will last.” We trust that you are leaving us better prepared in the things of the Lord than when you arrived... better prepared to be that testimony for our Lord . . . better equipped to overcome the obstacles of life. You've been a great class and have been used of the Lord in many wonderful ways. If the Lord tarries, our prayer is that through the passing ofyears this class will continue to have a great record for the glo ry of God. Harry Bollback
