Members of the Russell County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged three indi- viduals with impaired driving following separate incidents over the past two weeks. The first incident occurred on Friday, January 23, at approximately 5:20 p.m., when officers responded to a report of a collision in the parking lot of a local busi- ness. Upon arrival, police observed that a pickup truck had struck several vehicles in the parking lot. During the investigation, officers deter- mined that the driver was impaired. The individual was arrested at the scene and transported to the detachment for further testing. As a result, a 74-year-old man from Cla- rence-Rockland was charged with operation while impaired and operation with a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit (80 plus). He received a 90-day driver’s licence sus- pension, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days. Dans une publication diffusée sur les réseaux sociaux, le maire a indiqué qu’il s’agissait pour lui d’un « honneur de servir notre communauté, et je suis fier du travail que nous avons accompli ensemble ». Il a ajouté souhaiter poursuivre ce travail en étroite collaboration avec le personnel municipal, les membres du conseil et les partenaires communautaires. Interrogé sur les raisons qui motivent sa décision de briguer un nouveau mandat, Francis Brière a expliqué qu’il reste animé par le désir de voir aboutir plusieurs dossiers importants. « Il y a beaucoup de projets que nous
avons commencé que je veux voir la fin », a-t-il souligné, ajoutant qu’au fil du mandat, il a développé une relation de travail étroite avec le personnel municipal et les élus.
