BIBLE INSTITUTE LIBRAE?

WORD OF LIFE INSTITUTE LIBRARY

Before I was saved I spent my evenings leading a dance band orchestra. George, a budy of mine in the U. S. Army band, handed me a Gospel of John. I tore it to pieces! Six months passed, and we went off to army camp together. After watching George in that army camp for two full weeks, twenty-four hours a day, and not ing his consistant Christian life, I decided he had something that I didn't have. George invited me to a Gospel meeting. I didn't like it and left the meeting mad. That night God brought me under deep conviction. I slipped out of bed, got down on my knees and admitted to God above that my life had been stained, marred and blackened with sin. I asked Him right there and then to save me for Jesus' sake.

As far back as I can remember, the only really important thing in my life was music. My father and mother sacrificed to the point of hardship to give their kids a musical education. ■ •#•***'< ' ' . #\\ **• * * i \ y y' *. / *• • > / ( ^ • • • ! v « • *. • v . ., * > ' * ^ ^ • When we were young we went to the mission on Tuesday night, Wednesday night, Thursday night, Saturday night, Sunday afternoon and Sunday evening. Sometimes we rebelled but dad was strong and affirmed "As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord. " At one Bible conference, three boy friends and I decided to enjoy ourselves by staying away from every meeting. On the fourth day two of the preachers sought us out. "Boys, either you come to the meet ings, or you go home fast. " "We'll come to the meetings. " "All right. There will be four seats reserved for you in the front row. If you’re not there, we’ll be after you, and don't think we won’t find you. " That night four pairs of knees bowed at die altar, and four young hearts were opened to the Savior!

The Lord led Harry Bollback to Brazil as a pioneer missionary to the primitive Indi ans where he labored for four years. He then became burdened to start a youth ministry patterned after die United States camping program of Word of Life. An outgrowth of the camp in Brazil is Palavra da Vida Bible Institute, where Christian youth are trained to be soul-winners, pastors, Christian businessmen, etc. A further outgrowth has been the Bible Club ministry which is reaching youth in the schools, churches or at special activities where they are invited. Not only in Brazil, but in Germany the Lord has provided two castle^ with facilities to reach young Europeans for the Lord. Camps have been established in Kenya, Argen tina, Australia, Ecuador and staff are now preparing for the Phillipines. God has given the vision to Word of Life of seeing camps established on every continent to reach the goal of 100 camps by 1980, that youth around the world may be reached with the Gospel.

TWO ROADS In the morning, when you wake, Two roads before you lie For the day. Which will you take, Since either you must try? One’s the road of selfishness, And those who travel there Cause others sorrow and distress By tears and frowns they wear. And one’s the road of helpfulness, And those who pass that way Have cheery words and smiles to bless The ones they meet that day. Mary Dawson Hughes

The Bible Club movement be gan in September as an out reach program. Each school in the area was approached about the opportunity, and through this outreach many boys and girls know JESUS CHRIST as their personal Saviour.

42

"And a vision appeared to Paul in the night; There stood a man of Macedonia, and prayed him, saying, Come over into Macedonia, and help us. " Acts 16:9

At WOL we don't get visions but we do get phone calls and letters from pastors who ask us to come and help them reach the unsaved for Christ. The "big blue" is busy every weekend transporting us as we answer the calls and reach out with the gospel of Jesus Christ.

"SNOWDAYS ~ Snowdays came. The snow came down fresh and clean, and so very inviting. Many days as we sat in class watching it fall we longed to be out in it. The snow continued to fall and as soon as lunch was over the romping began. Oh. .what fun! One of our best fights began when our jeep went racing by with a load of boys in the back. They bombed everyone in sight. The second trip around more people were prepared... and the fight was on! Screaming... Laughing.. .yelling of all sorts! Many times the doors in the dorms slammed shut as we hurridly changed our wet clothing. When the jeeping quit the idea struck! "Let's make the Largest snowball!" Boys pushed and tug ged all the way down the football field. Then the game of "King on the Mountain" began. Wow! What a hassle! Snowdays really wore us out.. .but we loved it, and it is written in our memories as one of the best days of laughter.

"And further, by these, my son, be admonished of making many books there is no end; and much study is a weariness of the flesh. " Ecclesiastes 12:12

How selfish I must surely be If I neglect to give The gospel story to the world So dying ones can live.

Students at Palavra da Vida are not selfish. We heard reports of their many outreach programs when George Theis visited us in the fall. Two Brazilian Word of Lifers accompanied Mr. Theis to the U.S. to sing and give their testimonies. They were with us for a chapel service and shared with us how the gospel story changed their lives.

THE WORLD’S BIBLE Christ has no hands but our hands To do His work today. He has no feet but our feet To Lead men in His way. He has no tongue but our tongues To tell men how He died. He has no help but our help To bring them to His side. We are the only Bible The careless world will read, We are the sinner's gospel, We are the scoffer’s creed. We are the Lord’s last message, Given in deed and word. What if the type is crooked? What if the print is blurred? What if our hands are busy With other work than His? What if our feet are walking Where sin's alurement is? What if our tongues are speaking Of things His lips would spurn? How can we hope to help Him And hasten His return? Annie Johnson Flint

The World >God began with nothing and made a beautiful world. Man was placed in this beautiful world to enjoy it and be in the image of God.

Woman was made for a companion to man to live in a beautiful world. Self began to reign, and man forgot God. Children came and grow and spread to every part of the world. Parents wipe away tears and feed small hungry tummies. Animals are slaughtered or worshiped and many are found as pets. Plants are planted throughout the season... or just grow wild in the rain and sunshine. Deserts are dry, sandy, and flat, and praries are full with wheat. Forests are full of animals, trees, plants, insects, and more. Ants scurry about, bears are out, and bees are humming by. Skyscrapers loom into the sky, mountains are seen in the distance, Business flourishes, money comes easy, and yet there are slums. Roads are full of trucks, buses, cars, and trailers. Schools spring up, education is more advanced. Man is satisfied, he has been successful and his family is happy. Ocean beaches are full of man, taking it easy, reading the latest news. God looks down, so very sad, and says "not. good enough". Christ comes from glory and lives on earth to die and save man. Man lives on more successful, and feels independent, not needing a God. Death comes and, man's life in the world is finished. Judgment i ernes, God strikes. Where do you, Man, stand7
