ON OUR 10TH ANNIVERSARY From its beginning the Word of Life Bible Institute has been known as unique. I believe this is true in a number of ways. First, in the intense one-year program of Biblical training coupled with aggressive personal involvement in the practical outreach of the ministry of Christ. Second, in its goals of instilling into the life of each student of a profound working knowledge of the Word of God, the application of the Word to daily experiences which produce a godly life and a practical know-how in applying the Word to the lives of others, leading them to Christ and to spiritual maturity. Another unique feature is the guest faculty brought in for a week or two, each with a selected book or theme from the Bible to teach. At times we have had as many as six college presidents teaching with one scholastic year. One test of any program or system is its effectiveness. In these first ten years, the Institute has produced its present executive dean, dean of men, assistant dean of men, dean of women, business manager, a resident professor, bookstore manager, director of and business manager in Portugal, director and co-director in Spain, director in England, director of the Bible Institute in Australia and the Philippines; approved missionaries to Word of Life Turkey, Australia, England, Columbia, Argentina, Venezuela, France, the Philippines, Spain, Brazil; area representatives in Bible Clubs in Canada and Illinois; plus evangelists, pastors, assistant pastors, youth pastors, child ren’s workers and soloists in Christian work; business and professional men and women; and hundreds of better husbands, wives, parents, workers and leaders in many fields, because they are grounded in the Word of God and because Christ has the pre-eminence in their lives. I think the secret of why the Word of Life Bible Institute has been so successful with a growth rate of 10% per year for these ten years is that the staff and faculty have been even as Paul said in I Thessalonians 2:7, “We were gentle among you even as a nurse cherisheth her children so being affectionately desirous of you, we were willing to have imparted unto you not the gospel of God only, but also our own souls, because ye were dear unto us.” This has taken time, attention, love, warmth and discipline. WORD OF LIFE has always taken a strong, uncompromising position and by God’s grace we try to do it with love. It is more than an Institute ... it is a family. It is primarily God’s family of people bound together, determined to know the Word of God and the Will of God. May future classes ever hear our Lord say, “Occupy till I come. Work for the night cometh when no man can work.”
