WHAT’S SO GREAT ABOUT ARIZONA? WELL, LOTS. Arizona’s most famous natural landmark is the Grand Canyon. After all, it’s why we’re called the Grand Canyon State. Rich in history and natural beauty, the state is also known for so much more — from ancient settlements and Native American culture to larger-than-life explorers and breathtaking landscapes. Roughly 85% of Arizona is home to national parks and forests, recreation and wilderness areas, historic landmarks and many Native American reservations. Here, you can also find several of the world’s “sky islands” — tall mountains surrounded by low valleys with their own unique ecosystems. There’s no shortage of sunshine here — Arizona is a year-round destination renowned for its sunny skies (the sunniest in the nation!), low humidity and moderate temperatures.
