Bold was utilized back into our breeding pro- gram for one simple reason—we believe in his ability to create satisfied commercial cattle customers. Like his name implies, the Bold sons are bold in their body type. Their added softness, dimension and masculinity make us think they will still look good in their working clothes. Bold and his sons really replicate Roughrider and his sons. Bold’s Advance dam continues to be one of our mainstay donors and ranks in the top few we own. She excels for foot and udder quality, fertility and phenotypic balance. Her excellence continues even as she begins to age, which makes us thrilled to see his daughters working. Bold is owned with Murray Farms, Inc.

Ellingson Bold 5068 should be on the radar of all who follow the Ellingson Angus breeding program. Lot 211’s full broth- er, Ellingson Brazen, was the lead-off and high-selling bull of last year’s Ellingson Angus Real-World Genetics Production Sale. Brazen sold to ABS Global and will be an integral com- ponent in our breeding program moving forward. Another full brother, Ellingson Bold 4047, was a phenotypic standout and the third-high-selling bull of the same offering. He is now a resident herdsire for Fortune’s Rafter U Cross Ranch. Lot 211’s lone full sister is one of the very best females in our replacement bred heifer pen and is due to calve with a first-cycle A.I. calf this spring. Their donor dam by Elling- son Rangeland has recorded a nursing ratio of 3/104 and a calving interval of 364 days, having settled to first-service A.I. each year of her production career thus far.
