Dear Fellow Cattle Producers, Another year has flown by, and our favorite time of year is upon us. Every day of the year, we are in some fashion, preparing for this day, sale day! We couldn’t be any happier with the set of cattle we are offering for your appraisal this year, between the bulls and females, there is literally something for everyone. Each and every one of these animals brings value to the offering in some dynamic, and that’s what makes this group of cattle so special. Several years ago, we realized that we needed to adjust the focus of our program. While we will always concentrate on cattle that are pleasing to look at, we knew we had to make our cattle better genetically, improve what can’t be seen with the naked eye. As we all know, nothing happens fast in beef production, but we feel we have reached a point where these cattle offer true balance in terms of phenotype and genotype, calving ease, growth, maternal, and carcass traits. We will continue to push the envelope to encompass as many positive traits as we can in our herd, and we really love the upward trajectory of our cow base. We raise these cattle like any other commercial operation here in southern Iowa. We expect our cows to graze fescue pastures 8 months out the year and then turn them out in stockpiled grass for as long as the weather permits. When we start feeding them in the winter, the majority of their diet is good quality grass hay and depending on the year, they may get some sort of silage leading up to breeding. We’re firm believers in high quality mineral and vaccination programs and feel they are crucial to not only herd health, but performance and profitability in our operation. We develop these bulls on extremely high roughage diets. We encourage you to see what they eat while you are here. We develop them in pastures instead of smaller lots to ensure lots of exercise and condition them to the rigors of real-world breeding conditions. Rather than trying to maximize individual weights and performance, our focus during bull development is longevity, and doing what’s best to maximize the useful life of the animal. Our goal is that after the sale, the bulls continue to grow and mature the right way and when they show up at your operations, you are pleasantly surprised by the progression your purchase has made. You will notice our fall bull weights are a little less than normal, which we did by design. We slowed them up this year as they aren’t expected to work until they are 18+ months of age and we think this will be beneficial long term. These cattle all have genomically enhanced EPDs and we have reported all their data with the utmost integrity. We encourage you to have faith in the EPDs we publish in this catalog and there is no better way to compare genetic potential between these bulls than that data. Birth weights, weaning weights, and yearling weight calculations have all been figured into that data already, so buy with confidence! We are honored to have your consideration to be your seed stock source. We aim to make your experience as positive as we can, and we are confident that these cattle will accomplish what they are bred to do. We hope you can make it to the sale and better yet, any time before the sale to evaluate the offering. Please feel free to reach out to any of us with any questions you may have.

RUBY CATTLE COMPANY
THE BULL SALE
Cattlemen, Breeding cattle is no more than a work of art with a plan and a distinct course to follow. The cattle a true stockman breeds must fit the environment, climate, and general surroundings the stock will encounter. Selection and sorting pressures will be applied along the way, and when an outfit has been dedicated for two decades to making the cattle fit the mold and increasing profitability, that stockman knows whether the plan and the course have worked. However, if one is a seedstock supplier that has built and expanded a customer base from scratch with high retention and moderate growth, the plan has worked and should continue with each new genetic investment along the way. Nate Ruby has more than proved himself to be a great stockman and a steward of the land. His strength of mind and relentless pursuit of surpassing industry standards are noble and notable. The genetic investments and transitions he has made over the past decade continue to set his family’s operation apart from the nation’s best, and they have satisfied the large customer base he claims to have. The cattle in the pages of this book tell the story and define the journey that Nate, his wife Leslie, and their two boys have experienced. It is the American Dream they have pursued and continue to live, but as many of you know and understand that journey and life mission is not for the faint of heart. Ruby Cattle Company has always believed in submitting data to the Association, and when genomics was introduced, Nate made himself a student of that technology as well. The number of records and performance information in this book would be unmatched by a few other outfits within this same endeavor, and that alone is what drives many of the progressive cattlemen and women to this annual bull and female offering at 1170 Elk Street, Murray, Iowa, the first Saturday of February. For those who have not invested in the R Bar Diamond brand, you should know that Ruby Cattle Company strongly believes in what they do, and they run the cowherd like many commercial producers do relying on the god given resources and minimal inputs. There is zero toleration of any undesirable trait that hinders longevity and no excuses made for poor performance and conversion. Nate feeds the steer mates to the bulls in the offering so that he experiences what you will experience when you acquire your Ruby Cattle Company genetic package. They also have sisters and the dams of the bred females in the sale that work day in and day out to keep profitability within the operation. The cattle will work for you, instead of you working for them and that is fact! If you’re reading this sale book and would like to view the cattle before February 7, we encourage you to attend the open house on January 31, 2026, or contact Nate anytime to schedule your in person visit. Please feel free to reach out to Nate, Leslie, or their loyal hired man, Keegan for any questions or additional information about the stock in the sale. The team at Innovation AgMarketing is honored to work with this hardworking family and their program, so don’t hesitate to reach out to any of us if you should need any assistance with buying or general information gathering on or prior to sale day.

This set of Global x 721E flush brothers really get me fired up. Complete and balanced are two words that perfectly describe these guys. Extra muscle and sogginess combined with an attractive look and bullet proof EPD profiles make these bulls work in about any scenario you put them in. We really love our Global daughters. You couldn’t draw their udders any nicer. If you’re looking for more than one bull, buying these brothers and kicking them out together would make a lot of sense. No doubt 575N is one of the big burly brothers of the bunch. With his added stoutness and performance, he is an easy find in the pen.

My personal favorite of the litter. He comes from our youngest flush group and gives up some age and maturity to his brothers, but you can’t deny the quality he brings to the table. He is the most attractive made brother coupled with added frame and length of body. A great combination of calving ease, growth, maternal, and carcass traits. It’s not easy to find a bull that combines such great phenotype with breed leading indexes. In my mind, he’s one that definitely deserves breeder consideration.

Generational. I’ve wrestled in my head all fall for a name that does this bull justice and I am convinced Generational is what it needs to be. We think this bull is a “Generational Talent” but when I take a Macro view of the beef industry the last 20 years, which is how long we have been making a living at this, I can’t think of a time where this bull would not have had value in mainstream cattle breeding. The Lord only knows what the future holds, but I can’t help but think an animal like this should have no problem fitting in the mainstream for the next 20 years. Here’s the short version of it, he is just flat impressive anywhere you look at him. To get more detailed, it starts at the ground with big symmetrical feet, extra flex in his joints, and moves like a bull that’s half his size. His rib cage is as robust as anything we have ever had here, and I can only describe his muscle shape as heavy and dense. He’s great in his top line, square in his hip design, and has the proper slope to his shoulder. He is a proud calf and carries himself as such, but is so incredibly good dispositioned and easy to handle. He’s sneaky big when he gets on the scale and in today’s frame race we are facing, I think he will add size in most situations, but does it responsibly with added softness and fleshing ability. His EPD profile accounts for calves what will come easy with off the charts growth, yet still offers top end maternal traits, carcass figures and impressive index numbers. His dam has raised high end bulls before that have gone on to make their mark in the breed, and this bull takes it to another level. Obviously we think this bull can do the beef industry lots of good and would love to have you come evaluate him for yourself.

As much as I love the Jameson’s out of 721E herself, I think these grandsons give up nothing in terms of quality and come to you a shot more impressive on paper. Minute differences really separate these two studs, I read the 4M56 bull a half frame score bigger, a bit smoother in his muscle design, and a bit longer and more Simmental feature in his head design. I believe he is the highest TI bull in the offering and the most attractive made of this Jameson sire group. 4M48 reads with the most calving ease and the highest API of these Jameson ET calves and is probably the most Angus featured in his make up, just with more muscle. Either way, it’s really splitting hairs between the two and are both high quality, good footed studs that can work for the most discerning operation. Don’t miss the opportunity to own their full sister, you can leave this sale with a rocket ship to propel your operation into the future.

One of the most impressive beasts in the offering and without a doubt, the stoutest Purebred bull we’re selling. He is such a rare combination of muscle, look, calving ease, maternal, and Marbling. Not to mention his top 1% API and TI values. There is no doubt that 1J52 is making a big splash in a short amount of time and she may be the heir apparent to carry on the rich tradition of the Linda cow family. If you want a calving ease specialist that also possesses elite Marbling, API, and TI, here is your bull. He will add muscle to his calves, not often a trait found in a calving ease prospect. When just considering the basics of what we like in our cattle, this bull is one I really gravitate towards. He gives you a striking profile with a neck that sits on top of his shoulders, he’s level topped, square hipped, has a massive center body, stout made, gets out and covers ground and looks good doing it. Our buddy Jay Stowater suggested we try Basin Jameson and Basin True grit in our program, and while I could tell early the Jameson cattle were next level good, these True Grit sired cattle have been more sneaky good in my opinion. Like any good calving easy bull, late maturing is usually better and that is the case with these cattle. This bull was born 2 weeks early, outside in the cold, got up and got going in not ideal conditions and never looked back. Solid calving ease numbers but check out the growth potential here. Not very often do you get a calf that comes 2 weeks early that ends up being top 1% for growth. A really unique animal here that we like a great deal.

I have always been a big fan of this one’s dam. She is a beautiful blaze faced cow with a great udder that was the high IMF heifer in her contemporary group when we scanned them. She raised a nice one here and this bull is just hard to poke a hole in on the hoof or when you look at his stat set. Extra calving ease combined with above average growth, carcass and maternal traits.

Arguably the best looking Quadrant in the sale. When this one stops and hits his pose, he rivals anything in the pen from the side profile. He’s sound and athletic when he goes into motion, and when you step around behind him, he does not disappoint from that angle either. Whitewater was a huge hit here and the females we have in production are doing an exceptional job. We really like his growth and docility scores as well.

When we made the decision several years ago to make our cattle better on paper, this is the kind of combination I had in mind and have found out, they are not easy to make. This bull is the result of not settling for ordinary phenotype in order to make our cattle better genetically. This bull has been north of a 200 API and looking at him, you wouldn’t expect it. His neck sets high in his shoulder, he can walk around the pen with his head up, not in the dirt. He’s fluid and flexible in his structure, his top stays level when he takes a long stride and moves around the pen with ease. He’s stout made and dimensional and does all this combining a breed leading cow family and a bullet proof EPD profile. He’s too closely related to our herd to utilize him as much as we would like, but he is definitely breeder quality through and through. Help yourself here! Give me a pen full of bulls that look like this and combine this kind of EPD profile. Here is an attractive fronted bull with extra length of body that’s big topped and big butted. A true product of the program being out of a past high selling bull, a young dam out of one of our resident herdsires, Homestead, and goes back to the Cleo cow family, which produced the legendary Turnpike. Another bull that offers you an extremely flexible data set. Big fan of this one! If you need a power bull that will add muscle and pounds, this Quadrant son would be a logical choice. He’s on of the stoutest made animals in the entire sale and is as long as a well rope. He sets down on a big set of feet and is built to cover ground. Udder quality, fertility, and longevity are all trademarks of the Cleo cow family. Combine that with the great Linda cow family on the top side of his pedigree and you can’t go wrong. If you are a student of pedigrees, one look and you’ll notice this guy is none other than a maternal brother to the legendary Turnpike. 240Z is starting to get some age on her and doesn’t raise them like she once did, but this is a bull I’ve liked all the way through. He’s a dense made, big bodied rascal that is moderate in his frame size. Some important traits you can count on the Cleo’s to pass along is awesome udder quality, great feet and legs, quick shedding, fertile, and easy fleshing, all of which help these cattle thrive on our fescue pastures. There is as much power in the blood here as any in the offering and comes with a disposition second to none. I really like this bull. He’s wide muzzled and broad headed with extra body depth. He is big topped, big butted with extra dimension that carries low into the seat of his pants and athletic when put in motion. Check out how many of his EPDs are in the top 25% of the breed or better, impressive!

The dam of this bull, 911G, is the only full sister we ever had to Turnpike, so you know the value of genetics here. Tremendous balance when you look at him on paper and in the hoof. We strive to make as many if these balanced, problem free ones as we can, and this one happens to have a great cow family behind him.

240Z is one of the most solid female makers that we have tried to propagate heavily in our operation. I’m guessing her descendants will be a guiding force on our future direction. The Genesis x 240Z flush produced some of the best females she has made to date and 1J58 would be a favorite from that mating. The Homestead X Genesis matings flat work and this bull is a shining example. Outstanding on paper and functional, practical, and balanced in his build.

Our goal is to make sure our first calvers have a positive calving experience first and foremost but when they can raise one like this the first time out of the gate, they earn some extra credit points in my book. A very eye appealing Homestead son back on a Head Start. He’s chuck full of red meat offers breed leading API and TI figures and is a descendant of the great Rosetta cow family tribe. This white faced bulls dam is 3 for 3 putting sons in the bull sale, and all 3 have been high quality animals at that. This well balanced Homestead son does so much right. He’s good looking, stout made, sound, soft and backed by an awesome cow and cow family. A truly well balanced data set to go with him only adds to his appeal.
