What We’ve Been Reading Saga by Brian K. Staples | Reviewed by Cataloging Librarian, Lyndsey You’ve heard of Star Wars, right? You know about Romeo & Juliet, right? Well, Saga is a comic series that
is sort of a combination of those two things. In 2012, this Saga began, and it’s an epic fantasy and space opera comic series. The story starts out with two characters (Alana & Marko) who are basically the Juliet and Romeo in this realm. They are from two different races (one is from a planet and the other is from a moon). Anyway, they fall in love and now they are on the run from both sides of this gigantic space war that’s been going on for far too long. According to Goodreads, “ Saga is the sweeping tale of one young family fighting to find their place in the worlds. When two soldiers from opposite sides of a never-ending galactic war fall in love, they risk everything to bring a fragile new life into a dangerous old universe. Fantasy and science fiction are wed like never before in a sexy, subversive drama for adults.” I’m not going to tell you anything else because SPOILERS , but this comic series is for MATURE audiences only. It’s such a popular comic series that issue #55 was just recently released. It’s written by Brian K. Vaughan and illustrated by Fiona Staples. The library owns the series in physical volume copies as well as digital copies on both Libby and Hoopla. Even if you haven’t read a comic series before or you haven’t in a long time and you can read MATURE content, I would highly recommend reading Saga .
