Tasmania Police Update

Recently, Tasmania Police conducted a restructure of the Road and Public Order Services area changing to a dedicated Road Policing model and to support uniformed members operating on the front line (24 hours shift workers). As a result, there was a change to Southern Licensing Services which includes the area being reduced to two members. The section is now under the command of the Hobart Division which is led by Inspector Stephen Burk and Senior Sergeant Rick Newman (Divisional Sergeant). Southern Licensing Services will continue to operate as usual and if any THA members or licensees require contact, the following members can be contacted as follows: Sergeant Peter Andricopoulos 1/C Constable Armando Pasa Telephone: (03) 6173 2758 Email: southern.licensing@police.tas.gov.au

As we enter a new financial year, it may be timely to remind all licensees of their obligations as outlined in Division 5 of the Liquor Licensing Act 1990 – a copy of the legislation can be found at www.legislation. tas.gov.au or the Liquor and Gaming website at www.treasury.tas.gov.au I would also like to remind all staff in the hospitality industry to remind themselves of the principles of Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) and for licensees and managers to ensure that all serving staff hold the correct qualifications. Further details of RSA training providers can be obtained at www.treasury.tas.gov.au
