TAB Spotlight: Plough Inn
The Plough Inn, located in the heart of Launceston on Brisbane Street, has a long and storied history. This iconic pub has gone under numerous guises and weathered all sorts of passing gastronomical trends since it was first established in 1831, to become one of Launnie’s finest contemporary pubs. Of particular interest for the purposes of this piece, is the Plough’s new high-tech sports bar, which naturally features a first-rate TAB offering. We caught up with the Plough’s own Peter Goss to see how he added value to his venue by adding a splash of green to the eye catching black and white façade. What has the introduction of TAB meant for The Plough Inn? It’s allowed our venue to fully expand into our vision of being Tassie’s best sports bar! With TAB, our patrons are able to get the full sporting experience without needing any other outlet - they have everything they need at their fingertips. It has also opened our venue to new clientele that have not had access prior to TAB at The Plough.
How has the inclusion of Sky Sports been received by customers?
What are your thoughts of TAB introducing Venue Mode to the TAB app? It gets the punters in the hotel. With exclusive markets and offers, it’s a no brainer. Along with us showing Sky Sports, racing and footy live on all our screens makes it the place to be for a punter.
Our patrons love being able to spend time at a venue that offers Sky Sports vision, especially the US sports like Major League Baseball, the NBA and NFL. How are your punters finding the new Self-Serve Terminals? With multiple facets of our business to operate it has certainly helped from a staffing perspective. It’s allowed customers to get quick service during some particularly busy periods. From an affordability perspective, how does TAB compare now to five years ago? The reduction to the monthly cost of SKY thanks to the industry discount, as well as the rebate paid through our commissions has meant it is more affordable than ever before.
We know where we’ll be for Melbourne Cup!
