Holmwood Aged Care Spring Newsletter 2025

Dear Residents, Families, and Friends, It’s a pleasure to welcome you to our Spring

Newsletter. This is always a beautiful time of year in our beautiful Yarra Valley, and in our home. As the days grow warmer I for one have been enjoying watching the bursts of colour appear in our many garden beds, and our residents harvesting the fresh strawberries they have been cultivating and enjoying time in our alfresco areas! We also are on the approach to the festive season, and we are already beginning to feel that familiar sense of anticipation. Our much-loved Christmas event is on track to be bigger and better than ever, and the team has been busy planning a wonderful calendar of activities to carry us through the coming months. Thank you to our residents for your resilience, good humour, and the many moments of joy you bring to our days. And to our families—thank you for your ongoing support and trust. It is a privilege to work here and to be entrusted with the care of your loved ones. We have welcomed new members of staff, and are happy to have them aboard across the departments. Clinically we continue to kick goals and continue to strive for excellence across all of our care and services I for one was very excited by the purchase of our new snooker table, and though I haven’t had the chance to play yet, it is on my agenda! And I relished the opportunity to take part in the Virtual Reality Dementia Training on site here, and see how the team embraced the opportunity to take part in it, their insight and their willingness to learn, was heartwarming and inspiring as a manager. I was privileged to host an event for our long-standing team members at our 10+ years of service event, acknowledging, celebrating and honouring our dedicated team members who have been a part of the home for such inspiring time. We love that they have chosen to not only be a part of our community, but to stay as part of it for such periods of time. Here’s to more celebrations of more long-standing team members. My favourite part of the last few months would be our Halloween Party! An absolute blast of an evening with so many residents, staff and families taking part in the night!

To sign off I would also like to express my gratitude to our dedicated staff, who continue to demonstrate exceptional care and compassion every day. Their commitment ensures that our community remains a safe, welcoming, and vibrant place to live. Wishing you all a bright and cheerful spring, and an early season’s blessing as we look forward to Christmas together. Warm regards, Brenda Hand Aged Care Facility Manager
