EMPLOYMENT OFFER INFORMATION SESSION Volunteer Firefighters (men and women) Clarence-Rockland Fire Department The City of Clarence-Rockland is currently seeking applications to fill the positions of Volunteer Firefighter. We will be holding an information session for all men and women candidates who are interested in joining our team along with their spouses on Thursday November 16 th , 2017 at the Clarence-Creek arena, 418 Lemay Street from 7:00pm to 9:00pm. Information for candidates: A representative from Fire Service Women Ontario (FSWO) will be present at the information session to address interested candidates and answer any questions regarding women in the fire service. • be a resident of the City of Clarence-Rockland and remain a resident as long as he/she holds a position of Volunteer Firefighter • provide for his/her own mean of transportation and have a valid driver’s licence • must qualify and obtain a “DZ” driver’s licence within the first year of employment. DZ licence training will be available through our department • successfully pass a complete medical examination • have no criminal record • successfully complete a written test, an agility test (job related) and all other tests required by the Clarence- Rockland Fire Department (i.e.: ladders and breathing apparatus) • have successfully completed grade 12 secondary education or equivalent • Proficiency in French and English (spoken & written) • Volunteer firefighters hired by the Clarence-Rockland Fire Department will have to successfully complete the regional training program within the prescribed time frame if he/she is to maintain his/her position with the Fire Department. The Special Needs Support Worker will provide daily support and assist with life skills, socialization experiences and family support. Specific Skills: Conflict management, implement behaviour management programs, provide personal services and support to persons with special needs. Personal Qualities: Capable of working without supervision, capable of handling stress, capable of working independently and as part of a team. Good judgment and patience. Qualifications: • Suitable candidates will have a balance of academic education and a minimum of 2 years experience working with special needs population. • Preference will be given to people with training and experience in dealing with various disabilities and/or behavioural difficulties • Must be bilingual (French and English). • Valid CPR and First Aid certificates. • Basic computer knowledge and ability to work with Microsoft Word (Report writing). • Good communication, organizational and interpersonal skills. • Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle may be required. • Criminal reference check for vulnerable sector is required.
