St. Francis Xavier girls striving for the championship

The Girls’ senior basketball team at St. Francis Xavier Catholic High School is hosting the Prescott-Russell Secondary Schools Athletic Association (PRSSAA) championships. The semi-final game was held on Tuesday, November 7, against St. Thomas Aquinas. The winners of the semi-final games will be playing for the championship on Thursday, November 9. St. Francis Xavier will also be hosting the Eastern Ontario Secondary Schools Athletic Association (EOSSAA) Girls ‘A’ Championships on Thursday, November 16 and 17. The RocklandNationals lost their last three games. After losing their last three games, the Nats’ record stands at 11-12-1-1. The team fell 5-2 to the Cornwall Colts on Thursday, November 2, during a home game. Jean-Syl- vain Boyer andMathieu Blanchette recorded the two goals for the Nats.The team then got Les Nats chercheront une victoire mercredi contre les Sénateurs junior d’Ottawa. L’équipe affrontera également les 73s de Kemptville le vendredi shutout 4-0 by the Carleton Place Canadians the next night. Nats goaltender Sean Storr was able to block 34 of 38 shots that came his way, but the offense was not able to retaliate. The Nats struggled again on Sunday, No- vember 5, against the Smiths Falls Bears, losing the game 3-1. Cameron Scrivens re- corded the only goal of the game for the Nats early in the first period. Scrivens received third star recognition for his efforts. Bears’ players Marc Shannon and Michael Larose received the second and first stars, respec- tively, for their one goal and one assist each. The Nats will be looking for a win onWe- dnesday, November 8 against the Ottawa Jr. Senators for a day game at 11:30 a.m. The teams will also face the Kemptville 73s on Friday, November 10 at the CIH Arena. The organization is also hosting a pre-game supper for fans from5 to 7 p.m.The Nats will then take on the Pembroke Lumber Kings on Sunday, November 12. 10 novembre à l’aréna CIH.
