Safety first 1. Always unplug the Hurricane Tube from power before beginning. 2. Wear eye protection while drilling. 3. Keep small screws and beads away from children/patients.
Procedure 1. Prepare the tube 1.1 Unplug the Hurricane Tube. 1.2 Remove the cap and pour out the existing beads — set beads aside or discard per site policy. 1.3 Remove the 4 screws securing the white base cover. Discard those screws. 1.4 Remove and set the white base cover aside.
2. Replace two rubber feet with longer screws 2.1 Lay the tube and base on their side. 2.2 Remove the front-top-left and back-bottom-right rubber feet and discard the original screws. 2.3 Position each rubber foot and hand-thread a 2" screw through the base into the foot; stop when the screw head is flush with the bottom of the foot
2.4 Reposition the white base cover over the top of the tube but do not fasten it yet.
3. Prepare the cart mirror panel 3.1 If present, remove the protective plastic covering from the back mirror panel on the cart.
4. Mount the bracket to the mirror panel (do this before attaching the base to the cart) 4.1 Position the bracket so it is centered laterally on the mirror panel, 2¼" from each side (centered). 4.2 Mark the pilot screw hole locations on the mirror (mark on the mirror surface only). 4.3 Using the ¼" tile drill bit, drill pilot holes through the mirror only (take care to support the mirror and drill slowly to avoid cracking). 4.4 Affix the bracket to the mirror using the provided 3/4" screws.
5. Attach the base to the cart 5.1 Center the white base on the cart where the tube will sit. 5.2 Use a level to confirm the base is flush. 5.3 Once centered and level, drive the 2" screws (previously hand-started through the rubber feet) fully into the cart to secure the base. 5.4 Replace the white base cover.
6. Refill the tube and close it 6.1 Add the polystyrene beads to the tube. 6.2 Replace the tube cap and secure it down.
7. Install the hospital-grade power supply 7.1 Position the power supply on the left side of the cabinet (confirm exact placement per site preference). Mark the mounting positions. 7.2 Using a 1/8” drill bit, drill pilot holes through the cabinet only at the marked locations. 7.3 Attach the power supply with the ¾" screws from the kit. 7.4 Plug the Hurricane Tube into the new hospital-grade power supply to test power and operation.
8. Finalize and tidy up 8.1 Fill any additional unused receptacle holes with the blank inserts provided. 8.2 Verify the Hurricane Tube runs smoothly, and the beads circulate correctly. 8.3 Confirm all screws are tight, the base is stable and level, and there is no wobble.
