Methamphetamine, Marijuana, Cocaine and Fentanyl Seized in DeKalb County
August 3, 2024 No Incidents, No Accidents and Five Arrests • Patricio Heman Hurtado, age 28 of Fort Payne, was arrested for Public Intoxication • Pablo Rico Nava, age 47 of Fort Payne, was arrested for Public Intoxication • Miguel Tomas, age 34 of Fort Payne, was arrested for DUI and Attempting to Elude Law Enforcement • Justin Tyrone Pinkney, age 32 of Fort Payne, was arrested on a Warrant for Outside Agency • A 16 year old juvenile male of Fort Payne was arrested for Domestic Violence and Underage Consumption of Alcohol August 4, 2024 No Incidents and Three Arrests • Reyes Frasco Boyzo, age 22 of Valley Head, was arrested for Underage Consumption of Alcohol and Five Warrants for Failure to Appear • Gaspar Tomas Tomas, age 26 of Henagar, was arrested for DUI • James David Goodwin, age 41 of Fort Payne, was arrested for Driving Under the Influence of a Combined Substance Two Accidents with One Injury • An accident occurred at Gault Ave S and 16 Street SE, Nicholas James Lane, age 29 of Fort Payne, driving a 2004 Nissan Armada, left the roadway and stuck a fence and a building. Lane was taken to Dekalb Regional by Dekalb Ambulance Service. No Police Activity Reported for August 5-8 August 9, 2024 Incidents • Theft of Property – Occurred at Cato’s, several clothing items were taken, valued at $238.91 Six Arrests • Corey Michael Bowen, age 43 of Valley Head, was arrested for Fugitive from Justice and a Warrant for Outside Agency • Miguel Manuel Francisco, age 53 of Fort Payne, was arrested on Two Warrants for Failure to Appear • Felipe Jose Salazar Robles, age 43 of Fort Payne, was arrested for DUI • A 17 year old juvenile male of Fort Payne was arrested for Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia • Ethan Thomas Farmer, age 23 of Rainsville, was arrested for Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia Two Accidents with No Injuries August 10, 2024 • An accident occurred at Wallace Ave NE and Patricia Drive NE, Casey Thomas Preston Martin, age 22 of Rainsville, driving a 2018 Chevrolet Equinox, left the roadway and overturned. Martin was transported to Erlanger Hospital by Dekalb Ambulance Service. August 11, 2024 Incidents • Failure to Pay for Gasoline – Occurred at 1401 Glenn Blvd SW, $35.13 of diesel was taken and not paid for • Damaged Property – Occurred at 1506 Glenn Blvd SW, a street sign and pole were damaged, valued at $100.00 One Arrest • Joseph Allen Shankles, age 35 of Fort Payne, was arrested for Public Intoxication Two Accidents with No Injuries August 12, 2024 Incidents • Unlawful Breaking and Entering a Vehicle – Occurred at 712 Grand Ave NW, $200.00 in currency, keys, and cards were taken from a 2002 Chevrolet, valued at $250.00 Seven Arrests • A 17 year old juvenile male of Fort Payne was arrested for Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia • A 17 year old juvenile male of Fort Payne was arrested for Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia • Joshua Dakota Byrum, age 31 of Henagar, was arrested on Two Warrants for Outside Agency • Royce Eugene Lader, age 43 of Fort Payne, was arrested on Three Warrants for Outside Agency • David Lamar Maynor, age 58 of Collinsville, was arrested on a Warrant for Failure to Appear at 5:55 pm • Byron Trey Peppers, age 32 of Rainsville, was arrested for Criminal Trespass • Emidio Manuel Tomas Jimenez, age 34 of Fort Payne, was arrested on a Warrant for Outside Agency Two Accidents with No Injuries August 13, 2024 Incidents • Damaged Property – Occurred at 2101 Briarwood Ave SW Apt 110, a fender on a 2016 Chevrolet Cruze was damaged, valued at $122.00 Four Arrests • Keenan Sharaud Meeks, age 23 of Fyffe, was arrested on a Warrant for Failure to Appear • Shane Matthew Rooks, age 36 of Pisgah, was arrested for DUI and Ignition Interlock • Santiago Bautista Hernandez, age 45 of Fort Payne, was arrested on a Revocation Warrant • Gary Wayne Bevel, age 55 of Fort Payne, was arrested on Twelve Warrants for Failure to Appear One Accident with No Injuries August 14, 2024 Incidents • Damaged Property – Occurred at 2813 Gault Ave N, a bed on a 2013 Chevrolet Silverado was damaged, valued at $1000.00 No Incidents and No Arrests Two Accidents with one Injury • Damaged Property – Occurred at 813 Railroad Ave SW, metal siding, and a 100 feet of chain link fence were damaged, valued at $13,000 No Arrests One Accident with No Injuries August 15, 2024 No Incidents One Arrest • Demarol Antwyna Palmer, age 37 of Fort Payne, was arrested for DUI No Accidents with No Injuries
According to DeKalb County Sheriff Nick Welden, 2,764 grams of methamphetamine, 6 grams of marijuana, 2 grams of cocaine, 2 grams of fentanyl and 10 marijuana plants were seized during the Month of July. He also reported that 15 individuals were arrested on drug related charges. On July 2 DeKalb County Deputies stopped a vehicle near County Road 961 in Higdon for a traffic violation. During the stop, the driver was identified as James Waylon Parson (37 of Ider). Methamphetamine was found during a search. Parson was charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. In a second incident on July 2, authorities attempted to stop a vehicle on County Road 155 in Higdon with the vehicle fleeing onto County Road 839. The vehicle went to a camper belonging to Richard Lawrence Henderson Jr (55 of Higdon). Over 20 grams of methamphetamine was found inside the camper. Henderson was charged with Unlawful Possession with Intent to Distribute, Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. The driver of the vehicle has been identified and warrants have been obtained for Attempt to Elude. On July 9 Deputies conducted a traffic stop at the Dollar General in Henagar. During the stop it was discovered that the passenger Amanda Nicole Young (46 of Flat Rock) had active warrants with the Henagar Police Department. During a search, synthetic marijuana was located in the vehicle. Cody Lee Stiles (25 of Pisgah) and Young were both charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. On July 16 Officers with the Collinsville Police Department conducted a traffic stop on Hwy 11 South at Dollar General for a traffic violation. During a search, methamphetamine was found. Melinda Jo Wright (47 of Fort Payne) was charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. On July 21 Deputies, along with Officers from the Henagar Police Department, went to a residence on Short Cut Drive in Henagar to pick up Kenny Ladon Blalock (57 of Henagar) on an active warrant. Cynthia Lynn Gregory (53 of Henagar) who had active warrants was also in the residence. During a search, methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia were found. Blalock was charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance, Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Persons Forbidden to
Possess Firearms and 4 warrants for Failure to Appear. Gregory was charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance, Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and 2 warrants for Failure to Appear. On July 21 Deputies conducted a traffic stop on County Road 169 in the Flat Rock area. During the stop, fentanyl and drug paraphernalia were found. Collin Joseph Steele (27 of Higdon) was charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance, Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and DUI – (Controlled Substance). On July 23 Offices with Ider Police Department stopped a motorcycle on Hwy 75 South on a traffic violation finding the driver to be in possession of methamphetamine. Joe Ray Walker (38 of Flat Rock) was charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. On July 25 DeKalb County Narcotics Agents conducted a traffic stop on Highway 35 and College Road in Powell. During a search, methamphetamine and marijuana were found. Jerry Bruce Galloway Jr (47 of Fyffe) was charged with Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 1st, Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Tampering with Physical Evidence. Derick Nash Farmer (27 of Powell) was charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance (x2), Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Tampering with Physical Evidence and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 1st. On July 28 Deputies stopped a vehicle in the 800 block of Brown Street in Powell on a traffic violation. During a search, methamphetamine was found. Jonathan Wade Robinson (38 of Fort Payne) was charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. On July 29 Deputies responded to a broken-down vehicle on I-59 in Fort Payne. During a search, drug paraphernalia and methamphetamine were found. Joseph Tyler Johnson (24 of Leesburg) and Rebecca Michelle Bishop (35 of Fort Payne) was charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. On July 30 Deputies went to a residence on County Road 777 in Ider to arrest Daniel Lee Shrader (41 of Ider) on active warrants. Once there, Deputies found marijuana plants. Shrader was charged with Domestic Violence 3rd (x2), Attempt to Elude, Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 1st, Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 2nd and 8 warrants for Failure to Appear.

Over 12 pounds of methamphetamine and cash seized

Authorities recently seized 12 pounds of Methamphetamine, as well as 300 grams of marijuana and a large amount of cash. According to DeKalb County Sheriff Nick Welden, deputies conducted a traffic stop on Highway 35 in Rainsville for a suspected DUI on Saturday, August 10. During the stop, a K-9 Unit was called and alerted on the vehicle in several locations, which led authorities to a large amount of methamphetamine. At that time William Ray Hughes (age 70 of Fyffe) was placed under arrest. As a result of this traffic stop, agents obtained a search warrant for the residence. When Agents arrived at the residence on Road 996 in Fyffe, Thomas Earl Wadsworth (age 42 of Fyffe), who also resided in the residence, was
home. During a search of the home, a large sum of US currency and about a pound of methamphetamine was recovered. A trafficking amount of methamphetamine and 300 grams of marijuana was also recovered in a vehicle containing Mr. Wadsworth’s belonging. Hughes was charged with Trafficking in any Illegal Drug and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Wadsworth was charged with Trafficking in any Illegal Drug, Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 2nd and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. So many lives would have been ruined with this poison continuously on the streets and lives could have possibly been lost if not for the meticulous attention to detail," said Welden.
