A Painterly Portrait At the end of the book, Paloma creates a self-portrait of herself in the style of Frida Kahlo. In the portrait you can see a red opal necklace, an Aztec eagle soldier medallion, peacock feathers, a silver trumpet, a black knit cap, and the peacock ring, all of which are symbols representing her family, her friends, and her adventures in Coyocán.
