DANIEL BUSH’S DUAL PURSUIT OF SERVICE AND SCHOLARSHIP
Daniel “DJ” Bush (’25) discovered Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University while serving in the U.S. Air Force, where he was working in human resources for flight operations. “After being immersed in aircrew operations, I was inspired to pursue a degree in avionics and aim for a career in the skies,” Bush said. Now, he’s accomplishing his goal of becoming a pilot by earning a degree in Aeronautics with Embry-Riddle Worldwide — gaining a thorough understanding of the aviation industry. Still an active-duty military member at the Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Mississippi, Bush is able to actively apply the knowledge he gains in the classroom to his real-world experiences. “The courses have enhanced my critical-thinking skills and provided knowledge in business administration and Six Sigma, which I apply to organizational structure and systems along
with my aerodynamic and weather knowledge during flight training,” he shared. As he masterfully balances his studies and his service, Bush goes above and beyond with campus involvement in roles such as Career Ready Club ambassador, SGA member, COMPASS mentee and Eagles in Service member. Bush describes his on-campus work as fulfilling. “Being involved provides an opportunity to connect with colleagues outside the classroom and work behind the scenes with other motivated students aiming to impact their organization,” he said. As Bush looks forward, he aims to continue his pursuit of a pilot’s license, advance his education to a master’s level and grow in the corporate world.
Leadership at Your Fingertips Embry-Riddle’s Worldwide Campus is raising the bar for student success with the launch of its National Society of Leadership and Success (NSLS) chapter, the nation’s largest accredited leadership honor society. NSLS offers members access to: $400,000+ in scholarships annually. An exclusive online job board. Personalized letters of recommendation. Networking opportunities with industry leaders. The chapter’s establishment was driven by Christa Foster (’25), a U.S. Army veteran and Aeronautics major who serves as chapter president. Foster’s vision is to create a space where students, especially online learners, can refine their leadership styles, expand their networks and achieve their goals. “This chapter is about unlocking potential and building connections,” Foster shared. With this addition, Embry-Riddle empowers students to develop critical leadership skills that complement their academic achievements, preparing them to lead in their chosen fields.
