May’s Selections for the New Worlds Reading Initiative
In May, students can notice how much their home libraries have grown and reflect on what they like best about different kinds of books.
Families will likely find that the May book that their kindergartners, first graders, and second graders receive will empower them to share more as they read together with family members and to read more on their own. Third, fourth, and fifth graders may tackle a new topic, genre, or format.
Summer Leap Selections In addition to their May selection in English, Spanish, or Haitian Creole, students will receive three Summer Leap books. Summer Leap books, all in English, will foster enjoyable reading time over the summer and prepare students to be more confident and skilled readers during the upcoming school year.
