December 2019

Finally, as the year comes to an end, and as many families celebrate the holidays, it’s important to remember what really matters in life. Think about it this way: The best things in life aren’t things. They’re the moments we spend with our loved ones. They’re the memories we make together. During this time of year, it’s easy to lose sight of this. We get wrapped up in the materialistic aspects of the holiday. As we gather with family and friends, this is the time to make new memories, tell stories about our family around the dinner table, and play board games in the family room. At the same time, as you make new memories and reflect on old ones, it’s also important to make sure your estate plan is up to date. Just as we’ve had a big year, you may have had a big year, too. You may have welcomed a new child or grandchild into the family, or there may have been a divorce — or a new marriage. There may have been a change in your financial situation or your health. There are a lot of things to think about. But as always, if you have questions, you can count on us. As you get ready for 2020, don’t hesitate to reach out. We’re more than happy to sit with you and your family and go over your plan to make sure everything is just right. From myself, Norma, and the whole team, we hope you have a wonderful holiday season and we’ll see you in the New Year!

This year, we also added new staff and celebrated many milestones. We had a team member graduate and another get married, just to name a few. We also had many opportunities to spend time with our clients. Not only did we host several Trustee/Executor Schools this year, but we also had a little fun. In August, during the release of Disney’s “The Lion King,” the team and clients viewed the new release together. We laughed and cried together as we watched a story about legacy. In the film, a father dies and his son has to find his own footing and carry on the family legacy. It’s something many of us are familiar with. More recently, we launched a brand-new website featuring a video we created this year about the office. We are super proud of the new site. We are confident you can easily access and find information about estate planning, legacy planning, retirement, health care concerns, asset protection, and so much more. Make sure you check it out at MLeeLaw.com.

It’s hard to believe 2019 is coming to a close! It seems like only yesterday when we were getting ready to bring in 2019, but here we are at the year’s end. However, as 2020 approaches, even if we’re not quite ready for it to come, there isn’t a better time to reflect on what went well this past year. It’s always important to think about the good things that happened and review what you accomplished. It’s also a good time to start thinking about what you want to accomplish in the New Year. At the beginning of 2019, I released a new book, and we celebrated this accomplishment with a book signing in February, which was a lot of fun. Publishing the book was a dreamof mine. I wanted to create a resource for our clients, their families, and the community. When it comes to estate planning, people often have questions but may not know how to ask themor even know what to ask. Estate planning can be challenging, and the more resources you have access to, the better. We’re big believers in education.
