UCAO OptiSheath Multifibre, from Corning The OptiSheath® UCAO terminal, designed for use in outside plant fibre access networks, is an innovative terminal providing sealed environmental protection and fast, easy incremental connection of subscriber drop cables. Deployment velocity is increased in the same way as a Corning multiport terminal, but the UCAO sealed terminal has the added advantage of also serving as a splice point where higher fibre count distribution cables can be branched to lower fibre count cables or to the stub cables of multiport terminals. Optical splitters can also be housed inside this terminal, which is particularly appropriate for distributed split PON architectures. The closure can be deployed in underground chambers, wall mounted on buildings, direct buried or aerially on poles or messenger wires. Individual customer connections are achieved using OptiTap® ports located at either end of the closure body and up to 16 ports can be accommodated, with 8 at either end. The terminal consists of two hinged half shells which are sealed using a reusable silicone ring. All drop ports are contained in the top half and cable entry ports in the bottom half. Fibre management inside the closure is achieved using the well- established multifunction tray (MFT) and up to eight of these trays can be stacked inside the closure. Each can be accessed individually and each tray can house a maximum of 24 splices, providing a maximum splice capacity of 144 splices. The trays can also be pre-loaded with optical splitters in a range of split ratios. STAND G14 Reduce time and increase quality of FTTH network designs, with FiberPlanIT The manual planning and design of FTTH networks is a time consuming, error prone and very repetitive job. The FiberPlanIT Designer lowers the design time significantly and improves the quality of FTTH network designs. The user loads all the equipment and labour costs needed for construction of an FTTH network and configures the design guidelines and restrictions that need to be followed. FiberPlanIT takes these into account when generating the FTTH network design for the loaded area.

GE release Smallworld 5 GE provide network inventory solutions that enable operators to deliver significant operational and capital savings. At the heart of GE’s Smallworld Network Inventory portfolio is the geospatial physical inventory providing a database of record for the entire inside and outside plant network supporting the entire plan, design, build, operate

and maintain network lifecycle. GE have recently released a major new version of Smallworld Network Inventory. Smallworld 5 is a major evolution of the Smallworld platform providing a number of benefits to both new and existing customers. The adoption of Java and HTML5-based technologies across the portfolio results in an improved experience for end users and results in further efficiencies. A critical focus for the Smallworld solution has always been improving the efficiency of the network design process. Smallworld 5 enables savings of between 2% and 4% on network build costs to be delivered through optimized network design and planning efficiency can be increased by a factor of 10 through design automation. In the latest 1.7 version, improvements have been made to further increase the quality of the designs and support more deployment types and variations of FTTH design rules. Improvements include more extensive reuse of existing equipment, improved support of aerial deployment scenarios, more extensive design assistance and design rule checks. Further improvements to the underlying algorithms will further increase the quality of the design and lower the design construction costs. Stand B3

The 19” system stores excess fibre in a dedicated compartment at the side of the main frame, has side and back covers and an overheard cable tray. STAND S18
