Abbe Migne made a compilation of the decrees of councils and writings of the ancients in 220 thick volumes, and called it “The Catholic Tradition”, To this, many other works must be added. Are these mountains of chaff to be dug through before Christ is found? This is Satan’s way of lies. 4. Rome has seven sacraments. Here is the decree of the Council of Trent: “If anyone saith the sacraments of the new law were not all instituted by Jesus Christ our Lord, or that they are more or less than seven, to-wit: baptism, con­ firmation, the Eucharist, penance, extreme unction, orders, and matrimony; or even that any one of these seven is not truly and properly a sacrament; let him be anathema (Ses­ sion V II; canon 1). The definition of a sacrament given by the Council was: “A visible sign of invisible grace, instituted for our sanctification.” But the Scriptures teach that “A sacrament is an holy ordinance instituted by Christ, wherein by sensible signs, Christ and the benefits of the new covenant are represented, sealed and applied to believers.” According to this there are only two sacraments of the New Testament: baptism and the Lord’s Supper. The other five, penance, confirmation, extreme unction, orders, and matrimony, are not sacraments. Here the Church of Home usurps the preroga­ tives of the Lord Jesus Christ, the sole and only Head of His body the Church. 5. Rome teaches transubstantiation. The Council of Trent (Session XII, chapter 4 ) : “By the consecration of the bread and wine a conversion is made of the whole sub­ stance of the bread into the substance of the body of Christ our Lord, and of the whole substance of the wine into the substance of His blood, which conversion is by the Holy Cath­ olic Church suitably and properly called transubstantiation.” To this add Article V of the creed of Pius IV : “In the most holy sacrament of the Eucharist there are truly, really and
