How we create value

Environmental capital

Trimetys Group seeks to foster its develop- ment through sustainable and environmen- tally responsible practices. We place value on our Environmental Capital to unlock a wealth of enduring benefits for us and all our stake - holders.

A number of endemic seedlings have been planted at the hotel, including 100Dodonaea viscosa (Bois de reinette), 100 myoporum elipticum, 25 Pandanus heterocarpus (Vacoas) and 15 Latania loddigessi. We have also committed to plant one tree for each guest staying at one of our properties on the island. Additionally, Cap Tamarin Park in Mauritius is under development andwill be home to over 40,000 plants, a quarter of them endemic. At theAgribusiness cluster level, we are runninga sustainable farming programme. Several projects have been launched, including an organic market in July 2020. Training sessions andworkshops havebeendelivered to raise awareness about a healthier and more sustainable lifestyle. We are currently carryingout cropcultivationatMare Longue, withdiversification intomarket gardening andorchard farm - ing.We areplanning to embark on a greenhouse andnursery project for intensive organic farming in Tamarin, where we will also develop an orchard and an asparagus farm. And last but not least, we have installed beehives in Tamarin andMare Longue toproduce organic honey andpollinate our orchards. We will thus be able to supply honeybee by-prod- ucts like pollen and propolis in the near future. Our strategy Our Environmental Capital strategy is centredonmaintaining a responsible commitment to the well-being of our Group’s surrounding ecosystem, and specifically Cap Tamarin Smart & Happy Village. We are committed to integrated planning through the Plan d’Aménagement global de Cap Tamarin (PACT) initiativeandpromoteefficient useof natural resources with minimal disruption to the environment. What comes out We have developedgreater insight into the state of our Envi- ronmental Capital, helpingus bettermonitor our environmen- tal performance andmake improvementswherever required. Our programmes have also increased awareness among our collaborators on environmental issues and practices. We remain on the lookout for greener solutions for the Group. Value created Trimetys aims to play an active part in ecosystemprotection whilecontributing to reducingour overall carbon footprint.We have also leveraged our environmental protection initiatives and best practices to secure green funding like the loan we took out from Agence Française de Développement.

What we use Our efforts to enhance our Environmental Capital range from energy efficiency programmes to wastewater and waste recycling, planting of endemic species, water desalination, sustainable farming and the development of a park. We have implemented energy-saving programmes across all our properties and solar-powered street lightinghas been installed at Cap Tamarin Smart & Happy Village. Our water management activities include the use of a yearly average of 300m³ of recycledwater for irrigation at eachof the following sites: La Place Cap Tamarin, Be Cosy Apart’ Hotel and Tekoma BoutikHotel. Our desalination plant at this property inRodrigues produces on average 9,125m³ of water annually for an average consumption of 7,665 m³ of water per year. Tekoma Boutik Hotel has engaged in different sustainable programmes, such as the Bag for Ocean Plastic (BOP) initia- tive for beach trash collection to prevent them from being washed into the sea. The hotel encourages guests to partici- pateduring their stay. It alsoprovides environmentally friendly in-room amenities.
