Eric Besendorfer, Director of Technology at St. John the Baptist Diocesan High School since 2005, is a NASTAR! He manages the installation of the school’s wireless infrastructure, interactive whiteboards, projectors, and installed state of the art technology when renovating the school’s library. Eric also oversees the school’s 1:1 Chromebook program, administers the school’s Google and Microsoft accounts and technology applications (including the SIS) and coordinates technology for school assemblies and programs. He provides support to the Department of Education when they host events at St. John the Baptist, all while doing so graciously and without complaint. Gillian Candelaria, the district’s Assistive Technology Coordinator, has championed the use of assistive technology, ensuring all students have access to necessary resources. She collaborates with teachers to provide personalized resources and support. Gillian has transformed her classrooms into dynamic learning environments, where technology enhances instruction. She consistently explores and implements cutting-edge tools and platforms, including integrating artificial intelligence into the curriculum. Gillian shares her expertise and passion for educational technology, empowering colleagues to embrace new technologies, and plans to expand her reach further through district-wide professional development opportunities. Gillian stands as a leader of excellence in educational and assistive technology in the Plainview-Old Bethpage School District and is deserving of a NASTAR award for technology innovation. We celebrate Mrs. Linda Casillo, an extraordinary educator who integrates technology to instruct, engage, and support her second-grade students. She fosters a sense of community through Google Form check-ins and incorporates the latest Google features into her instruction. Mrs. Casillo's impact extends beyond her classroom, serving as a leader and mentor for her colleagues. Her dedication, passion, and belief in the power of technology in education inspire us all. Meghan (Meg) Ceglie, a library media specialist and instructional technology staff developer at Lynbrook Public Schools, provides workshops and training for staff, assists students with their instructional technology needs, and sets a high standard of excellence with creative projects. She is an exemplary candidate for the NASTAR award for innovative instructional technology implementation, offering unparalleled support to teachers navigating the integration of technology into their pedagogical approaches. Through her dedication and gained expertise as a former elementary library-media specialist, Meghan empowers educators, transforms classroom practices, and fosters environments where technology enhances learning experiences. To say Leslie Dalis Watnik has been an integral part of the technology program in the Great Neck Public Schools is an understatement; Leslie designs lessons, develops units, and writes curriculum to ensure that Great Neck elementary students receive a cutting-edge, innovative technology education. The success of the elementary technology program reflects Leslie’s hard work, dedication, and commitment to excellence. Leslie never stops innovating, always looking for new ways to engage her students and ensure that the skills they learn are relevant. Above all, Leslie truly cares about her students and provides them with the best educational experience possible. As Leslie prepares for her retirement, she is presented with a NASTAR award in recognition of her incredibly large contribution to the school district. Teresa jumped in head first into her new role as Digital Literacy Coach and has accomplished so much in her first year. She developed a Technology Scope and Sequence with her district colleagues and coordinated the logistics for our Apple Distinguished Educator initiative. Teresa worked tirelessly to help the technology in our schools function well for our students, teachers, and staff, and did it all with overflowing positive energy and a good sense of humor. VS30 is so lucky to have her!

Mrs. D'Alonzo is a wonderful teacher and attending her class is a unique experience that every student should have. On a typical school day, students sit in gaming chairs, work on their own computers and projects, and enjoy the colorful LED lights and projection screens that showcase their work. Mrs. D'Alonzo moves around the room to help students or does a demonstration on the board with a microphone so all can hear. Video game music plays softly in the background, like Zelda or Mario while students work on their incredible computer games and assist each other. Mrs. D'Alonzo uses technology to make her classroom an amazing place for everyone lucky enough to visit. Allison de Onis is a passionate World Language teacher at South Woods Middle School in Syosset CSD. She has been instrumental in implementing technology pilots and initiatives as a founding member of the district’s Technology Workgroup. Allison has served as a Tech Coach, supporting her colleagues in navigating educational technology, and currently serves as the Middle School Mentor Teacher Coordinator, focusing on pedagogy and technology. In her World Language classes, she delivers engaging presentations that foster collaboration, innovation, and personalized learning through tools such as Google Slides, Pear Deck, Canva, and Bitmoji. Allison has also created multi-media assessments with Formative, Google Forms, and Flip to support her students' academic growth. Her commitment to using edtech tools to innovate and redefine her instructional goals while creating an exciting learning environment makes her a true NASTAR. Michael DeGennaro has worked at Freeport Public Schools for over 20 years and has served in various roles, including classroom teacher, lead teacher, supervisor, and technology coach. As an instructional technology coach, he has played a pivotal role in integrating technology into the classroom and supporting parents, teachers, administrators, and students. He consistently goes above and beyond to ensure the success of district initiatives and brings a light-hearted attitude to stressful situations. Mr. DeGennaro is an asset to the Freeport Public School community and is highly recommended to be a NASTAR.

Throughout his tenure in Oyster Bay, Brian Donohue has consistently been a pioneer in combining entertainment with education for his pupils. Recently, he embraced the new role of High School Innovation Specialist. In this capacity, he collaborates closely with high school educators to incorporate digital tools and technology into the classroom. Additionally, he is piloting a new class that merges literature and video gaming at the high school level. Lisa is a fourth-grade Microsoft Certified Educator and the instructional technology coach at David Paterson Elementary School. She is an educator who thinks globally and was instrumental in making David Paterson a certified IB World School. Lisa is always happy to help and has led numerous successful and engaging sessions on district platforms, notably Schoology, our learning management system. Lisa also participated in the Nassau BOCES Smart Start Grant where she attended workshops and facilitated a session on technology programs. Outside of school, Lisa is an adjunct professor of mathematics and education at York College. She also directs a social justice summer camp out of York College every summer that concentrates on equity in education with a STEM strand. Ms. Galvin is a mathematics teacher who has embraced the use of technology as a tool to enhance her instruction. She is innovative and creative, using technology to support her scholars both inside and outside of the classroom. Her scholars have demonstrated their mastery of mathematics thanks to the real-world examples that integrating technology has made possible. In addition to helping her scholars, Ms. Galvin serves as a coach to fellow teachers, assisting them with both technology and curricular questions. She also serves on the district technology committee. At Westbury, Ms. Galvin is highly valued for her technological innovations and high-quality mathematics instruction, a true NASTAR!

Kelsey Elias is a grade 1 teacher at Cornwell Avenue who has played a key role in integrating instructional technology in the West Hempstead School District. She uses instructional technology to support diverse learners in her classroom, engaging them in high-level thinking activities with tools like Seesaw and Book Creator, while sharing their work with an authentic audience using technology. Ms. Elias understands the importance of blending foundational literacy skills with technology to promote mastery of concepts. She has become a teacher leader in her building, supporting other teachers in using Seesaw and Book Creator. This year, the grade 1 students will continue their publishing unit, using Book Creator to publish their writing and hosting a "Meet the Author" event with the kindergarten center via Google Meet. Ms. Elias goes above and beyond integrating technology and has been instrumental in the rollout of Cornwell Avenue's digital portfolio. Her students develop strong digital literacy, citizenship, and fluency skills that they carry with them throughout their school careers. Cornwell Avenue is honored to select Ms. Elias as our NASTAR to represent the RamFamily. We recognize Ms. Victoria Galante for her exemplary leadership and steadfast commitment to the technology department that has profoundly impacted Glen Cove’s entire education community. Under her astute financial stewardship, the district has seen the yearly implementation of technology-related initiatives and tools that transformed the way students learn and teachers teach. Ms. Galante has made tough decisions when balancing budgets and foreseeing future needs, and under her leadership the technology department has thrived. Every successful program, student Chromebook, and classroom smartboard has been successfully implemented because of her belief in the transformative power of technology. Her careful planning has ensured the availability and sustainability of these tools through the efficient allocation of resources. His unwavering dedication to the district is evident in his approach, as he never says no to any project, big or small, from automating and integrating systems to troubleshooting a teacher's device. Lauren Lavelle is an exemplary educator and leader in the Garden City School District. As an Instructional Technology Coach and Staff Developer, she has made significant contributions to the integration of technology in education. Lauren's expertise spans a wide range of subjects, including technology, STEAM, Science, Genius Hour, Design Thinking, PBL, and Innovative Learning Spaces. As a technology coach, she has been instrumental in transforming Garden City into a technology-forward district, leading the charge to secure recognition for an Apple Distinguished School award for Locust Primary School. Lauren's impact extends beyond her district, as she has presented at several technology conferences, inspiring educators to incorporate innovative approaches into their classrooms. Lauren is also an incredible field hockey coach, leading Garden City to its third straight Long Island championship! Her versatility as a leader shines through in her various roles, consistently pushing the boundaries of what is possible in education. Zachary Levy creatively integrates the use of instructional technology tools to support teaching and learning at John F. Kennedy Middle School. In his ninth year as a teacher with the district, Mr. Levy utilizes any resources available to him, including artificial intelligence tools, to support his lesson planning and delivery. He is the director of the Bethpage High School's Drama Club, advisor of John F. Kennedy Live (fully student run television broadcast), Coordinator for Vocational Experiences for our Extended School Year (ESY) Program, and middle school track coach. Mr. Levy also uses his talents in videography to promote the great things taking place across the school community. He is an active and valued member of the Bethpage Schools community.

With her extensive knowledge of children's literature and educational resources, Diane creates a welcoming and enriching environment within the school library. She curates diverse collections that cater to the varied interests and learning styles of her young learners. Diane integrates technology and multimedia resources seamlessly into her teaching, enhancing students' digital literacy skills.
