BRIAN DONOHUE
Throughout his tenure in Oyster Bay, Brian Donohue has consistently been a pioneer in combining entertainment with education for his pupils. Recently, he embraced the new role of High School Innovation Specialist. In this capacity, he collaborates closely with high school educators to incorporate digital tools and technology into the classroom. Additionally, he is piloting a new class that merges literature and video gaming at the high school level. Lisa is a fourth-grade Microsoft Certified Educator and the instructional technology coach at David Paterson Elementary School. She is an educator who thinks globally and was instrumental in making David Paterson a certified IB World School. Lisa is always happy to help and has led numerous successful and engaging sessions on district platforms, notably Schoology, our learning management system. Lisa also participated in the Nassau BOCES Smart Start Grant where she attended workshops and facilitated a session on technology programs. Outside of school, Lisa is an adjunct professor of mathematics and education at York College. She also directs a social justice summer camp out of York College every summer that concentrates on equity in education with a STEM strand. Ms. Galvin is a mathematics teacher who has embraced the use of technology as a tool to enhance her instruction. She is innovative and creative, using technology to support her scholars both inside and outside of the classroom. Her scholars have demonstrated their mastery of mathematics thanks to the real-world examples that integrating technology has made possible. In addition to helping her scholars, Ms. Galvin serves as a coach to fellow teachers, assisting them with both technology and curricular questions. She also serves on the district technology committee. At Westbury, Ms. Galvin is highly valued for her technological innovations and high-quality mathematics instruction, a true NASTAR!
