The Sixth Annual NASTAR Awards Program

Lauren Lavelle is an exemplary educator and leader in the Garden City School District. As an Instructional Technology Coach and Staff Developer, she has made significant contributions to the integration of technology in education. Lauren's expertise spans a wide range of subjects, including technology, STEAM, Science, Genius Hour, Design Thinking, PBL, and Innovative Learning Spaces. As a technology coach, she has been instrumental in transforming Garden City into a technology-forward district, leading the charge to secure recognition for an Apple Distinguished School award for Locust Primary School. Lauren's impact extends beyond her district, as she has presented at several technology conferences, inspiring educators to incorporate innovative approaches into their classrooms. Lauren is also an incredible field hockey coach, leading Garden City to its third straight Long Island championship! Her versatility as a leader shines through in her various roles, consistently pushing the boundaries of what is possible in education. Zachary Levy creatively integrates the use of instructional technology tools to support teaching and learning at John F. Kennedy Middle School. In his ninth year as a teacher with the district, Mr. Levy utilizes any resources available to him, including artificial intelligence tools, to support his lesson planning and delivery. He is the director of the Bethpage High School's Drama Club, advisor of John F. Kennedy Live (fully student run television broadcast), Coordinator for Vocational Experiences for our Extended School Year (ESY) Program, and middle school track coach. Mr. Levy also uses his talents in videography to promote the great things taking place across the school community. He is an active and valued member of the Bethpage Schools community.
