Top of the pyramid! Year 5 theme day.
TOMBS & MUMMIES Abbey turned back the clock this term as Year 5 pupils took part in a hands-on Ancient Egypt workshop that brought history roaring to life The young historians marvelled at replica artefacts, piecing together clues and solving tricky puzzles to uncover the mysteries of one of the world’s greatest civilisations. Laughter and gasps filled the room as pupils tried on elaborate replica clothes, stepping into the shoes – and sandals – of Egyptians from thousands of years ago. The day’s highlight was a fascinating (and slightly gory) dive into the process of mummification, as pupils learned exactly how pharaohs were prepared for the afterlife. “It was like History mixed with CSI,” one pupil grinned. Teachers said the immersive workshop left pupils buzzing with curiosity and brought ancient facts off the page and into real life, proving that learning can be both educational and unforgettable.
