Athens v Sparta! Launch of learning
GREEK Year 3 children were transported back in time to ancient Greece during a thrilling Greek- themed day. Immersed in the world of warriors, the children discovered the significance of the Dory spear, adorned with a leaf spearhead and butt spike, and the formidable Coppice curved sword. Learning that warriors refrained from hurling their spears in battle to avoid deadly consequences, the young historians donned Corinthian helms and linear thorax armour, complete with shields bearing unique designs for easy identification on the battlefield. Amidst the festivities, debates raged on: Sparta or Athens, which ancient city-state reigned supreme? The day was a whirlwind of learning and excitement, igniting a passion for history in the hearts of these budding scholars.
