Lower School House Drama 2025 Bravo and congratulations to the 80+ students from Years 7 and 8 who participated in this year’s Lower School House Drama Festival. I want to acknowledge the dedication and hard work of each and every performer and director, who has brought their vision to life on stage. In Drama, there are no small parts. Whether you played a leading role, were part of the ensemble, brought a puppet to life, or contributed in any way, your effort was essential to the storytelling process. It is this teamwork, passion, and commit- ment that makes theatre such a transformative ex- perience. Keep challenging yourselves. Congratu- lations to everyone involved! ◎ 1. Raleigh His Dark Materials dir Ben Journeay-Rhodes and Noah Mensah-Elliot 2. Grenville Alice in Wonderland dir Anders Lam and Hugo Williams 3. Sidney The Lion, The Witch And The Wardrobe dir Cillian Norris and Carter Bird 4. Marlowe Coraline dir Elliot Johnston 5. Jonson Bedknobs and Broomsticks dir Naasei Asabere Jarman Special Adjudicator’s Cup: Hamish Pearson (Howard) for the fantastic use of his hat being blown around in the tornado in The Wizard of Oz. The Grouch , however, was the real highlight of the night. Adapted from Molière's 1666 comedy The Misanthrope , Bolt’s reimagining celebrates the curmudgeonly in us all. Literary critic Alan rails against the world and all its sycophants “deploring the bogus ways of society these days”. Aristou Meehan was captivating as a Orville, perfectly encapsulating the dramatic ego of a poet. This was perfectly contrasted by the hostility and rigidness of Wilf Patten’s Alan whose sour expressions could cut glass, deservedly scooping them both the recognition of Best Actor. Xavier Wild should not be overlooked as the mediator lynchpin in this stunning trio that deservedly took the top spot overall. Middle School House Drama 2025 Bravo and congratulations to the 60-plus students from Years 9, 10 and 11 who participated in this year’s Middle School House Drama Festival! Our adjudicator for the evening, Alex Maxwell OA, delivered an incisive and excellent adjudication of the diverse programme. Standout performances came from Ryan Nguyen as The Mayor, leading his hapless bureaucrats down the shady path of bribes and cover-up, as well as Tristan Harland for his role as Inspector Goole in An Inspector Calls and for his direction of the piece (alongside Gus Walmsley). Noah Darley and Max Hackleton shared the bouquet for Best Actor with their mature and truthful performance of Aaron Sorkin’s A Few Good Men which also secured the top spot, with outstanding ensemble playing. The was echoed too by the Spenser Ensemble with their vision of Adam Barnard’s kaleidoscopic Buckets ; deftly steered by Henry Findlay and Gabriel Sweeney the performers were in complete synergy. James White is proving to be a really exciting young practitioner creating a really inventive vision of Bryony Lavery’s Beautiful Burnout . A final shout- out to Tom Adair, awarded the adjudicator’s prize for his slick physical theatre set pieces in Grenville’s adaptation of Laura Eason’s Around the World in Eighty Days.

A dazzling showcase of student-led creativity across all year groups
