Outreach to partnership This collaborative approach is especially critical at a time when the education sector faces significant pressures, from funding cuts to teacher shortages. By pooling resources and sharing responsibility, we strengthen the educational ecosystem as a whole. Collaborative teacher training and mentoring ensure that every classroom, in every school, is led by a skilled, supported professional. This benefits everyone – students, staff, and society alike. As we share our resources and expertise, we also gain valuable insights that make us better educators. Working alongside passionate teachers from other schools brings new energy and fresh thinking. It reminds us that no school has a monopoly on excellence; learning is always richer when it’s shared. At its best, partnership work doesn’t just support academic growth; it shapes character. It helps students become more outward-looking, reflect- ive, and compassionate. At Dulwich, we encourage our students to view their privilege not as a barrier, but as a platform – a platform from which they can serve, support, and stand alongside others. We want them to be citizens of their local community as much as of the wider world. When
they take part in joint activities with peers from neighbouring schools, they grow. They become better learners, and better people. The Southwark Schools’ Learning Partnership (SSLP) exemplifies this spirit. The Student Voice project, for example, brings together students from across the borough to discuss, learn, and lead. Students from varied backgrounds, experiences and skills engage in creating and leading on projects that are meaningful, challenging, and inspiring. Previous projects have focused on mental health, neurodiversity and sustainability. This year’s theme of AI has aspects of interest to all students, regardless of their individual school, and their collective voices and collaborative work will contribute to every school being stronger and more prepared in these areas. These exchanges not only build understanding but also empower students to take ownership of their shared educational journey. At Dulwich, we see partnership as a core part of our mission. We are proud to be one part of a much larger network of schools and organisations working together for the common good. Because when we do, we honour Edward Alleyn’s vision not just in word, but in action. ◎
