The Alleynian 713 2025

To a Cornflower by Rhydian Evans, Year 13 I Fragment of the endless sky,

Child of moving horizon: Your petals reply in blue. II You speak the margins. Ascend from bleeding soil, Trojan wounds as industrial wasteland. III Heal me as your face Is suspended, flickering In floral aurora. IV From your blue chalice, a banquet of pollination; Your dawn nectar is ecstatic Bread of fields for wingèd workers. V Blossom birth-song breaks backs of Injustice in your sickle-honed veins: Now return to the parade in pride of place. VI Your colour a voice in the dark; Around your stem rings of Change, laced with tissued florets. VII You have arisen To lift your glazed porcelain shard Back to celestial union.
