Ed’s efforts were supported with runs from Roan Kennedy, 501 at 36; Alfie Veysey, 486 at 41; Adam Hydari, 446 at 30, and Henry Gooderham, 400 at 30; batters who made valuable contributions throughout the season. A particularly special moment was between Henry Gooderham, 106*, and Roan Kennedy, 122*, who shared a 248-run partnership against Wilson’s to secure a impressive win in the early rounds of the National T20. In the latter part of the season, Shreesh Mehrotra often stole the show with the bat; his flair and ability to clear the boundary changed the momentum on many occasions for the 1 st XI. Kit Harland and Hector Charlesworth both contributed wickets and control but the bowling and fielding will be areas the 1 st XI will look to improve for 2025. Whole-school 2024 season The Senior Cricket club enjoyed a full fixture card with 2 nd XI and 3 rd XI success throughout the season. Results don’t reflect some excellent performances across both squads individually; highlights included Luke Meyohas’s and Luke Fox’s half-centuries against Trinity and Alleyn’s respectively and Ashwin Kaloo’s 3 for 23 against KCS Wimbledon. Each standout performance led to comprehensive victories; Justin King, the 2 nd XI coach, will be looking for more of that next season. In the Middle School, the Year 10s were com- petitive throughout but struggled to make the final blow in many games to secure victories, result- ing in a 40% win rate. The A squad started brill- iantly winning tight games against Eastbourne College and Hampton. However, the biggest success was in the LSCA County Cup. They ran out comfortable winners on finals day — Jack Hibbert’s commanding 82* a particular high point, but were unable to take that form into regionals where Dulwich College came second against a strong Bede’s side. The B team’s highlight for 2024 was a one-wicket win against Tonbridge; those spectating will remember Aadit Bhasin’s straight drive for the win and celebration — a fantastic mo- ment. The B and C teams both improved through the season and it will be exciting to see them create more depth in the Senior squads in 2025.
The U14A team also achieved success in the County Cup and have given themselves the op- portunity to play in the David English national competition next season. The year group had a strong season with A, B, C and D teams all winning more than 50% of their fixtures showing the depth of quality in Year 9. Individually for the A team, Krish Thapar led the run scoring charts, scoring 359 runs including a top score of 114*, and Nick Lewes took 23 wickets at an average of 8. Meanwhile Kit Cunliffe took 7 for 25 against Whitgift for the Bs and Rupert Street scored 77 against St Paul’s for the Cs. Josh Jelbert’s 120* for the U12 A team was the highlight of an impressive season; he averaged 85 for the season contributing to both U13 and U12 County Cup success. This was a theme with the Year 7 A group who talents enabled them to contribute to the U13 County Cup campaign, dominate the LSCA U12 cup to give them a op- portunity to compete in the National Bunbury cup in 2025. Also, the U12 B won every fixture convincingly whilst the U12 C team won 5 out of the 7 matches they played, rounding off an excellent first season in the Senior School. The U13 A squad made huge progress during the 2024 season, their fixture against St Paul’s encapsulating all their progress as they won by 5 runs in a T20 thriller. They also won their County Cup with a clinic performance against City of London. The B and C squads showed similar improvements over the term. The most impressive performance aspect for the 2024 season was County Cup wins for Year 7, 8, 9 and 10, a first in many years and sets the cricket club up for regional competitions in 2025. 2025 season The 2025 season has started with energy and enthusiasm with competitive blocks against Eastbourne College, Dulwich Prep & Senior, Hampton, and KCS Wimbledon. Both U13 and U15 ‘A’ teams have won the 1 st rounds of their respective National cups and the 1 st XI have reached the semi- final in the South London National T20. Cricket at the College continues to thrive in 2025. ◎
Bowled over The 2024/25 Cricket season review
T his has been a landmark year for Dulwich College Cricket, marked by significant achievements and individual brilliance across various teams. 1 st XI The 1 st XI had a competitive season, securing notable victories against Eastbourne College, St Paul’s, Dulwich CC and Haileybury. However, players, staff, and parents will look back asking “what if’s” as they faced narrow defeats against Melbourne Grammar School, Trinity, KCS, Wimbledon, Whitgift and the OAs. The Whitgift
match was a particularly difficult loss as it brought an end to our National T20 campaign after two professional victories full of quality in the earlier rounds. However, the St Paul’s victory will live long in the memory as it came after a series of close shaves and showed the squad what could be achieved. It’s particularly satisfying as we have only three leavers and many of the squad will be back to right some wrongs in 2025/26 season. Ed Warren (Year 12) led the team with aplomb, developing more tactical understanding to impact the game and led from the front with the ball in hand, taking 25 wickets at an average of 21.
