A MESSAGE FROM HEAD OF YEAR 7
So it’s been another busy week for Year 7. On Monday, each tutor group experienced a workshop with the charity “Show racism the red card”. They discussed strategies on how to call out racism and how to respond and support individuals being subjected to racist behaviours. It was a very valuable experience for the students. Tomorrow Year 7 will experience their first Sports day here at Waldegrave. I know they will try their best in the various activities to support their tutor groups and House in the competitions to be the champions of Sports day. It is always lovely to see their engagement and enthusiasm. Results will be shared in next week’s bulletin. I’m delighted to share that the Year 7 Cricket team won their first league match against Turing House on Friday, see the full write up in the Sports Fixtures section further on in the bulletin. Hopefully year 7 will have cashed in their Epraise points last week. We are now on the home straight for who is going to be the top individual and tutor group winners, good luck all. Here are the current standings; 3rd Dominique P 3rd, Mia B 2nd and Kate C 1st. Tutor groups; 3rd 7PCO, 2nd 7EEL and still in 1st place 7PFO.
Next week on Wednesday year 7 have their final drop down day when they will be working on their Smoothie project ideas. This is sure to be a productive and fun challenge for the year group.
On Thursday next week the U13 Cricket team will be playing in the Chance to Shine regional finals. Good luck.
MRS BASHFORD-HYNES, HEAD OF YEAR 7
‘Arsenic For Tea’ by Robin Stevens A murder-mystery, with two curious girls as the main protagonists – Daisy Wells and Hazel Wong. As chaos unfolds around them, they try to solve the clues like full-on detectives, but unpaid, of course. Daisy’s mother throws a tea party, with the whole family invited but when one of them mysteriously falls ill with food poisoning and then passes away Wells and Wong are suspicious. Who could have done it, and how? The book is a thrilling read, as you unpick the clues with our protagonists. To suspect a character and find out the truth is a whole adventure without having to leave home. I picked this book from the series specifically because of how suspenseful it was. Almost every character seemed like the culprit, every single one of them acted edgy, so it was even harder to work out. This is the second book in the series, so I recommend reading the first book first, but there are other books in the series as well, so if you enjoyed this one, there are many more to enjoy!
