A MESSAGE FROM HEAD OF YEAR 10
This week is the final week of the Year 10 exams. The students have done incredibly well, especially in the hot weather, and it has been wonderful to see them so focused and committed, working hard both in school and at home. Next week is work experience which will be a nice change after the exams. Ms Hopping on Wednesday delivered an assembly about the work experience with some last minute reminders to the students. We are sure that the Year 10s will really enjoy this opportunity to get into the world of work and to start thinking about their future careers. In school, career appointments are also underway with a specialist career advisor who will be offering students guidance and support as they consider next steps. All students in Year 10 will get to have this support. Congratulations to 10ERU for getting the most epraise points this week. Keep it up! Today we are holding our inter-house sports day and I wish everyone luck! It is always a joy to be part of the wonderful celebratory atmosphere and to watch the students being so supportive of each other. Students may start getting some feedback from their Year 10 teachers on their mocks both this week and the week after work experience. Year 10 monitoring will also be out before the end of term llowing parents and guardians to see the progress that the students are making in lessons, as well as specific targets for improvement.
Have a lovely weekend!

BOOK OF THE MONTH
‘King of Nothing’ by Nathanael Lessore
I really really really enjoyed this book! I specifically enjoyed how realistic and actually quite intense it was towards the end. The characters are all written so well. For example I really like how you can tell Anton is not as bad as Kehinde from the start when he kind of defended Mathew when Kehinde was about to give him a hard time. The scene where Mathew and Anton are at a sleepover and they’re talking about his nan made me cry! It was just so wholesome and the boys’ unexpected friendship is such a lovely part of the book. I will definitely suggest this book to people in the future!
