INTERNATIONAL SCHOOLS

Cameron Pyke - Deputy Master External

Design and Technology will shortly travel to Dulwich College Beijing for the inaugural Technology Expo., celebrating all things related to technology, design, computing and enterprise. It is also encouraging that staff are increasingly forging mutually beneficial links in important areas such as wellbeing, extended research essays, the Upper School Symposium and counselling for United States university applications. Students are eagerly anticipating the second Dulwich Olympiad, which will be held at the College in London in March 2019 and therefore against the backdrop of our quatercentenary celebrations. Considerable thought is going into making this a memorable celebration of the holistic Dulwich vision which unites students across what the Master calls “the commonwealth of schools”, as well as involving our local partner schools over the course of the week. In addition, College boys have continued to act as gap year assistants at Dulwich College Suzhou and, as I write, our School Captain and Vices are preparing to attend the second Dulwich College International Student Leadership Conference in Shanghai. As well as working with their opposite numbers across the network, they will also spend time at Dulwich College Suzhou and Dehong

Chinese International School. We are looking forward to developing this collaboration between students across the schools, which students clearly value on both sides.

The Master and Head of Wellbeing had the privilege of visiting some of their inspiring projects in 2017. The end of the summer also saw the opening of a sister school of Dulwich College International, Dehong Chinese International School, in the Puxi area of Shanghai with a curriculum which creatively combines Western and Eastern pedagogy in its teaching of Chinese students and enjoys first-class modern facilities shared with Dulwich College Shanghai Puxi next door. The latter is a second Shanghai campus and now in its second year of operation. This brings the total number of Dulwich- affiliated schools in Asia to ten.

Educational links across the Commonwealth of Schools continue to develop, involving both staff and students. Our Head of DUCKS and Junior School attended the DCI primary conference at DC Suzhou in March and were able to exchange ideas regarding current best practice with their counterparts across the network.
