Une vingtaine d’élèves de 6 e , 7 e et 8 e années ont profité d’une formation avec des entraineurs d’expérience lors du camp d’entraînement de l’Association de basketball mineur des Titans qui se déroulait au cours de la semaine du 13 août. « Les élèves étaient choyés, car ils avaient comme entraineurs Leslie Hughes et Sid MacCallum, qui à eux seuls comptent 42 ans d’expérience chacun », a expliqué Marcel Arseneau, président de l’association, au sujet du camp qui se déroulait à l’École secondaire de Hawkesbury. Le camp pour les élèves de 3 e , 4 e et 5 e années a eu lieu du 30 juillet au 3 août. La ligue Titans, formée en 1981 par Michel Laferrière, Sid MacCallum et Pierre
M. Arseneau, qui en est à son 4 e camp et à sa 24 e année avec les Titans, a précisé que la ligue profitait de l’appui des écoles de la région. « Nous bénéficions d’un soutien extraordinaire des écoles catholiques de Hawkesbury (ESCRH et Paul VI), de l’École secondaire publique Le Sommet, des écoles Pleasant Corners Public School et St. Jude Catholic School de Vankleek Hill », a précisé M. Arseneau. La saison régulière commence le deuxième vendredi d’octobre et se termine par la finale le premier samedi en mars.
