Exterior Complementing the architecture is a palette of natural finishes in warm whites and soft greys, feature walls in hand- hewn rock and bagged brickwork, planes of accent colour in charcoal, forest black and espresso. Shutters, trellises and pergolas cast patterns of dappled light across external surfaces with rustic textures of wood and stone combine perfectly with glass and metal. Responding to the location of the site amongst farms and smallholdings in the heart of Spanish Farm in Somerset West, the architectural language of the Estate is a contemporary rural Cape vernacular style. Typical barn-type structures are linked by flat-roofed secondary elements, when combined result in a simple yet sophisticated massing of built forms. 16
