back, thé servant asked, “What shall I do now, sir?” “ Give him the water all the same,” was the noble officer’s reply—a faint picture of the grace of 2 Corinthiens 8:9.— One Thousand Tales Worth Tell ing. A Home in Heaven 2 C o r in t h ia n s 4:1 t o 5.21; J o h n 14:1-4; R e v e l a t io n 21 a n d 22 MEMORY VERSE: “ In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you” (John 14:2). AIM: To s h o w Norman’s Little Sister Went Home,” by Ethel S. Low in the Sunday School Times for December 25, 1943.) APPROACH: While a finé new -church was béing built in Chicago, the church members met each week in a tabernacle, or large wooden building, near by. The tabernacle had only benches for seats and rough boards for a floor. But the people did not think about that, for they were remembering how much better their' new church would be. The body of each of us who loves the Lord Jesus is like that tabernacle. It is useful to us now, but some day we shall not need it any more, for we shall havé something much better: a new body and a new home in heaven —all made ready for us by the Lord whó loves us. This was the happy message that the Lord told His people jüst a little while before He went back to heaven. LESSOjN STORY: Jesus said some thing like this: “In my Father’s house are many mansions, or pleasant places to live in. I am going there to get them ready for you. Then I w ill come agáin to get you, and you and I will be together always, in the heavenly home” (John 14:1-4). The Bible does not say very much about heaven, for we shall have to see it to undérstand how wonderful it is. We know that the river of the water of life is there—bright and clear. The tree of life grows there, with twelve kinds of fruit on it (Rev. 22:1, 2). The streets are made of gold. Every one is happy, and good, and well. With such a fine home waiting, np one should be sad when a loved one has to leave the body-house that is ' tired and sick, and go to the new home that is so much Better. 5- Division that the Lord Jesus will some day give a new body and a new home to every one who trusts Him as S a v i o u r—and that these are love ly. .OBJECTS: Two capital “R’s,” a capi tal “P,” and a pair of scissors. (Make the letters by using three pieces of 8% x ll inch paper. Fold them to gether, end to end, making the size 5y2x8% inches. Place the 5% inch side nearest you with the fold to the left. Cut from the bottom % inch from the fold up 5M inches. From this point, cut 1 % inches to the right. From there, slant down to within % inch of the lower right-hand corner, making the right leg of the “R.” This leg should be % inch wide. From the top of this leg, continue the curve of the “R” to within % inch of the right side of the paper. The curve should be one inch wide, making the opening 1% inches deep. Remove the center “R” and cut the slanting leg off, making a “P.” Open and color thé inside red. Color the outside gray. Color the face of each “R” gold. Place the letters to gether and thumbtack to the board, along the left side of the “R,” but not through it, thus allowing the others to be slipped out.) LESSON: Who can guess what this golden “R” represents? “ Is it riches?” Yes, it reminds us of the riches of Christ. In 2 Corinthians 8:9 we read, /‘For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he bfecame poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich.” Christ did not remain rich, so the verse tejls, but became poor. We now pull a large “P” from behind the “R.” [Thumbtack to the right of the “R.” ] Next we are told that Jesus became poor that others might become rich. Here is another golden “R” to remind us of the' riches which Christ provides for Christians. [Thumbtack to the right of the “P.” 3 Salvation 'in Christ is true riches. Have you ever wondered what Christ’s poverty meant’? Perhaps if we cut into the “P,” we will find some thing that was included in His pov erty. [Cut through the crossbar 1% inches from the upright, and again at the top where it joins the upright. Dis card the curves.] Here is a red cross, reminding us of the death of Christ on the cross, which was an important part of his poverty. How grateful we should be to Him who became poor, that we might, become rich.
