IEA INSIDER 2025
THE IRC 2025 IN METRICS
improving the quality of secondary analysis, by advancing analytical methods as well as awareness on the needs of other educational stakeholders. Each IRC has been unique; each somehow outperformed the previous one in terms of research quality and engagement of attendees. This year’s IRC was dedicated to the theme “Researching Education for Sustainable Futures.” Sustainability, as we are aware, has an environmental dimension (closely linked to TIMSS), and an economic and social one (closely linked to ICCS). Further, the sustainability theme was not only limited to IEA studies measuring sustainability-related constructs, but also to IEA’s mission of improving learning. IEA studies are only a part of a larger education (eco)system, which rely on diverse stakeholders with different experience and perhaps even competing needs. Our willingness and ability to collaborate can make the analytical methods we use more robust and the research questions we ask more innovative and impactful, to ensure the timeliness and sustainability of IEA studies. The IRC will continue to strive toward this goal.
