COLLABORATION MATTERS 2025 has been the year of collaboration for IEA’s teacher initiative. Partnering with the Education Support Centres Ireland (ESCI) to release Volume Two at the ESCI’s annual general meeting in Kildare. Over 75 teachers in Ireland attended the release, and the Chair of ESCI, Umut Mathúna comments: “These are important research materials through which schools can learn, change practice, and deliver top-quality education into the classrooms… ESCI will most certainly be using the book in teacher development programs.”
Teaching digital reading comprehension is becoming a point of focus with students having access to digital tools and their reading shifting toward digital devices. Multiple tabs and hyperlinks that lead to content not related to the text provide more distractions compared to reading from a paper text. The newly released Volume Two highlights principles and practices for teaching reading comprehension skills for digital texts. Accompanying resources provide teachers with a deep dive into the ePIRLS digital passage “ Oceans ” and the Teacher Snippet highlights how teaching digital reading comprehension can be done in the classroom.
