Helen is a consultant in Community Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare, SW Wales. She is the Lead for the development of the first Women’s Health Plan for Wales, published on the 10th of December 2024. Helen is a specialist in Menopause Care and is a co-applicant on multiple research projects across the UK and Wales and was awarded the prestigious Health and Care Research Wales, Research Time Award, 2023-2026. In December 2024 the first Women’s Health Plan for Wales was published outlining a ten-year vision (2025-2035) for delivery of women’s healthcare in Wales. 130 This ambitious plan, coordinated and led by the National Strategic Clinical Network for Women’s Health built on the work of the ‘Discovery Report’, which captured the voices of almost 4000 women and girls. 131 It outlines how women’s health will be delivered across eight priority areas, including Postnatal Contraception.
Each area has key actions attached, to be delivered within two, five or ten years, and has been assigned to one or more responsible organisation to help drive it forward. By bringing together local health boards, special health authorities and trusts alongside Welsh Government and third sector partners and women themselves, there is an interconnected responsibility for the delivery and success of the Women’s Health Plan.
