White House. The Iota Chapter exceeded the prom- ise Founder Elder Watson Diggs initially had for the chapter and its members exemplified the fraternity’s motto of Achievement in Every Field of Human En- deavor . However, the decades long absence of the chapter from the UChicago campus has been equally detrimental to the fraternity and to the university. Hopefully, this historic chapter can someday return as a viable and sustainable chapter of the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. The objective of this article was to utilize the 100 th anniversary of the chartering of the Iota Chapter to introduce and celebrate the chapter, to chronicle its history and the stories of brothers associated with the chapter to the 21 st century of the fraternity. The ar- ticle highlights the contributions by chapter brothers to the fraternity, in many cases, to the city of Chicago and to various segments of 20 th century American society. When the chapter was last consistently ac- tive, Richard B. Millspaugh, Esq. was the Grand Po- lemarch (1961-1964). Consequently, in this modern era of the fraternity, the chapter is largely unknown and a mystery. If the Iota Chapter unfortunately nev- er returns to active status, the article is intended to be the official source of record about the chapter for future generations of Kappa Men. The construction of this article encompassed review- ing of The Story of Kappa Alpha Psi ® and researching past issues of The Kappa Alpha Psi ® Journal for in- formation on the chapter and its members as well as conducting interviews with Iota Chapter initiates. The special collections centers from both the Uni- versity of Chicago and Chicago Public Libraries re- spectively provided invaluable resources and archival information on the Iota Chapter and Kappa Alpha Psi ® . Other source material included obituaries of Iota Chapter initiates, school yearbooks, Chicago (IL) Alumni Chapter bulletins, newspaper and magazine articles, and books on various chapter members. The publication of this article could not have oc- curred without the assistance, guidance and resourc- es of the below: Epilogue
