THE KING’S BUSINESS

unable to answer a letter sent to him, this man was kept by God and found true after, many months in a hard place. Fred N—, a young man, living a very sinful life, so sinful that he was noticed and remarked about by his own comrades in sin as altogether bad, was hurriedly talk ed to and presented with a tract one after noon while he was “ cleaning ship.” He Was the cause of a great surprise and proved how God’s Holy Spirit follows the W ord spoken in weakness and how without any human aid God is able to save and trans form a life. He seemed the most unprom ising man God would save, but when 'the worker stepped aboard the S. S. “Avalon” a week later, the secret capie to light, when a clean, bright looking, happy -fellow stepped up to the worker and with signs of a transformed life in manner and speech shook his hand and told of his acceptance of Christ a week before. “I felt bad after you left me that day,” he said. “ I lived an awful life and all knew of it. I have looked for you since we came into the har bor this morning and thought you would never come. It is all right now. I haven’t been off the ship since you saw me and the other men don’t understand me. They don’t know the secret, but I know and you know. I have something better.” He want ed to show his appreciation of the few words he received and the leaflet. Giving the worker some money, he said, “ Use this to help some other poor soul as had off as I was and don’t fail to come on board as soon as the ship comes into San Pedro next time.” Friends are asked to pray for him that God may build him up and strengthen him to win his companions to Christ. before and I have wandered from one Sun day School to another and from one church to another. I will tell my mother that she is wrong.” The man on the dock was as tonished but speechless when he saw the worker later, but. received the tract pre sented him and became friendly toward him instead of angry. Thé same night, on the same steamer, the other wireless operator was led into a def inite assurance of his possession of eternal life. He was apparently a saved man but did not know that it was possible for him to enjoy the security of his life hid with Christ in God. Many times God prepares a heart and in a little message reveals His power to save. Sometimes after failure to have a letter an swered as in this case, God shows that “ He is able” to keep and rejoices the heart of the worker. After many months of wait ing Mr. M— on a Union Oil steamer was met and said with a shining face and joy in his heart to the worker, “Tell Mr. M— (the worker who led him to Christ) that I am still rejoicing and am teaching this joy ful message to my wife and children, it is the only life worth living and I am glad I have it.” This bright man, an of ficer on the S. S. Argyle, was dealt with concerning his soul. He listened eagerly and although not unacquainted with the Gospel, never before had he seen a real need in his life and the way to a life of joy in the Lord. He had not any excuses or difficulties, was ready and prepared to receive Christ and did so with tears in his eyes. When he'was introduced shortly af terward to the fellow worker, the worker said, “ I am so glad you have taken Christ as your personal Saviour,” to which he re plied, with tears of joy in his eyes, “ I am so glad it was offered to me.” It could he seen that the testimony rang true. They that go down to the sea in ships, that do business in great waters; these see the works of the LORD, and his wonders in the deep. For he commandeth, and raiseth the stormy wind, which Iifteth up the waves thereof. . . . Then they cry unto the LORD in their trouble, and he bringeth them out of their distresses. Ps. 107:23-25,28.
